U23 Vietnam finalizes quality West Asian 'blue team' at FIFA Days

On September 30, Acting Head Coach Dinh Hong Vinh announced the list of 23 players to join the Vietnam U23 team in the third training session in 2025. This is part of the plan that VFF has built very early to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games and the 2026 AFC U23 Championship Finals.

According to the plan, the U23 Vietnam team will regroup from October 4 in Hanoi , parallel with the Vietnam team during FIFA Days in October 2025. The whole team will have 3 days of training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, then leave for the UAE for training from October 7.

Notably, in the UAE, coach Dinh Hong Vinh and his team will have two friendly matches with the Qatar U23 team, which are considered to be of very high quality in terms of expertise, on October 9 and October 13 respectively. The West Asian team recently won a ticket to the 2026 AFC U23 Championship Finals with 3 wins in Group H.

Through this training trip, U23 Vietnam continues to perfect the squad, practice tactics and accumulate experience for the immediate goal of SEA Games 33 and then the 2026 U23 Asian Finals in Saudi Arabia.

Except for the group of 8 players including Trung Kien, Dinh Bac, Van Khang, Thanh Nhan, Xuan Bac, Hieu Minh, Phi Hoang and Nhat Minh who were called up to the Vietnam national team, the list of U23 Vietnam this time did not have many changes with familiar faces such as Ly Duc, Viktor Le, Thai Son, Anh Quan... In addition, coach Dinh Hong Vinh also called up "newbie" Vadim Nguyen - a Vietnamese-American player who is playing forSHB Da Nang. Along with that, midfielder Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong, who is in good form for Ho Chi Minh City Police, was also present.
