TPO – After crawling into a trap (a means of fishing in a lagoon in Thua Thien- Hue ) to eat fish, a 2-meter-long snake-like animal was captured by fishermen and handed over to forest rangers.

On the afternoon of September 20, information from the Forest Protection Department of Phu Loc district, Thua Thien-Hue province, said that the unit had just received a rare wild animal handed over by a local resident through the local police.

Earlier, on the same morning, while fishing in Cau Hai lagoon, Mr. Truong Vinh (born in 1978, residing in Nghi Xuan village, Giang Hai commune, Phu Loc district) discovered a snake-like animal, longer than an adult, crawling into the trap to eat fish.

Mr. Vinh captured the strange animal and then handed it over to Giang Hai Commune Police for handling.

Initial examination showed that the animal weighed nearly 9kg, was about 2 meters long, and was in normal health.

This is a rare reticulated python, listed in the Vietnam Red Book, with a length of 2 meters and a weight of nearly 9 kg.

After receiving it from the people, Giang Hai Commune Police handed over the animal to Phu Loc Forest Protection Department.

According to the inspection of the forest rangers, this animal is a rare, endangered, threatened reticulated python, belonging to group IIB, listed in the Vietnam Red Book and needs to be strictly preserved and protected. Phu Loc Forest Ranger Department said that after taking care of it and carrying out the required procedures, the animal will be released into the natural environment in the near future.
