Dani Alves sentenced to 9 years in prison

When the case reached trial, prosecutors asked for a nine-year prison sentence, and wanted Alves to pay 150,000 euros (more than $163,000) in damages to the victim and be banned from contacting her for 10 years. They also proposed that the Brazilian defender be kept under surveillance for a year after his prison term. Under Spanish law, if convicted, Alves would also be banned from working with minors for 10 years after his release.

The Brazilian defender played for the UNAM Club in Mexico from the summer of 2022, but the club terminated his contract after his arrest.
