Huy Hoang won gold medal at Asian swimming competition

On the evening of September 29, Vietnamese representative Nguyen Huy Hoang excellently won the gold medal in the 1,500m freestyle event at the 2025 Asian Swimming Championship held in India.

Swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang excellently defeated 7 strong opponents to finish first with a time of 15 minutes 15 seconds 01. He was more than 8 seconds ahead of the second place winner, Sibirtev (Uzbekistan) (15 minutes 23 seconds 35).

Despite winning the gold medal, this result is not Huy Hoang's best achievement. The 2000-born swimmer achieved a time of 15 minutes 11 seconds 24 when he won this event at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia in 2023. At the 2025 World Championship, he also achieved a time of 15 minutes 19 seconds 39.

In addition to Huy Hoang's gold medal, the Vietnamese swimming team also won two more medals on the competition day. In the men's 400m individual medley, Tran Hung Nguyen won silver with a time of 4 minutes 20 seconds 30, just 1 second behind Yichen Xie (China, gold medal) (4 minutes 19 seconds 34). Nguyen Quang Thuan also participated in the final of this event but finished fourth with a time of 4 minutes 21 seconds 25.

In the women's 400m individual medley, Vo Thi My Tien won the bronze medal with a result of 4 minutes 49 seconds 81. Meanwhile, Nguyen Thuy Hien (women's 50m freestyle) and Pham Thanh Bao (men's 50m breaststroke) both could not step onto the medal podium despite reaching the final.

Closing the competition day, the men's 4x200m freestyle relay team including Tran Van Nguyen Quoc, Nguyen Huy Hoang, Nguyen Quang Thuan and Tran Hung Nguyen finished 7th with a time of 7 minutes 38 seconds 18.
