At the iPhone 17 launch event, Apple not only introduced a new product line but also introduced many accompanying accessories. Notably, the first appearance of the iPhone cross-body strap attracted great curiosity from users.

It is worth mentioning that this accessory is offered by Apple at a price of nearly 1.7 million VND in the Vietnamese market. Initially, many opinions said that this was an unbelievable price for a strap and predicted that this accessory would be difficult to sell in Vietnam. However, the reality is completely opposite.
Currently, when you buy an iPhone crossbody strap from Apple’s online store, you’ll have to wait 4-5 weeks for it to arrive. Many different versions of the strap, including orange, blue, light blue, and sienna brown, are not available for shipping.
The same thing was also recorded at many authorized dealers of the company. In particular, the orange version is almost out of stock. Meanwhile, other color versions such as gray, black or green are still available but in small quantities.
"With crossbody straps, although not yet a popular product, we have noticed that young customers who often travel or take a lot of photos with their phones have begun to receive them positively. This is a good sign, showing that the new accessory market in Vietnam has a lot of growth potential," said Ms. Van Thi Ngoc Yen, Apple product manager at Di Dong Viet.
On Apple's website, the company says the crossbody strap is designed to attach to a case, making it easier to carry your iPhone and hands-free. The slim woven strap is made from 100% recycled PET.
The strap has a maximum length of 2,080mm and a minimum of 1,080mm. The magnet is integrated with a stainless steel sliding mechanism that allows users to adjust the length according to their needs. In addition, users must also buy a case that costs nearly 1.7 million VND to be able to use with this crossbody strap.

Apple has repeatedly caused controversy by selling accessories at high prices (Photo: Gizmodo).
In fact, this is not the first time Apple has caused controversy in the community when pricing its accessories. Not long ago, Apple surprised everyone by selling a screen cleaning cloth for 529,000 VND, or a USB-C to Lightning adapter for nearly 1 million VND.
Despite the controversy over the selling price, there is still a segment of users who love to use genuine accessories from Apple. The rate of buying accessories with new iPhones has also increased in recent years.
"Statistics show that about 80% of customers tend to buy 1 to 2 accessories when owning iPhone 17 and iPhone Air," said a representative of Minh Tuan Mobile system.
This shows that, despite the controversial high prices, Apple has succeeded in making accessories an important part of its business strategy. The remaining question is: are users buying the products because of real need, or because of the “Apple effect” that the company has skillfully maintained over the years?
