According to the signed content, the two sides will cooperate in six key areas: promoting green transformation; responding to climate change; protecting the environment and effectively managing waste; promoting the development of circular economy , digital economy, and sharing economy; implementing a program to enhance leadership capacity, develop modern governance; and promoting public sector innovation, focusing on people and businesses, and providing comprehensive services.
Within the framework of the signing ceremony, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh received and worked with Ms. Kanni Wignaraja, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Assistant Director-General of UNDP, Director of the UNDP Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific .

At the meeting, Ms. Kanni Wignaraja congratulated and highly appreciated the success of the 80th National Day Celebration of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam held in Hanoi. She expressed her joy at witnessing the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between UNDP and the Hanoi People's Committee, and affirmed that UNDP is ready to accompany, support and cooperate with the Capital in all areas of the development process, together realizing long-term cooperation plans.
Agreeing with this view, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh sincerely thanked UNDP for its support to Hanoi in recent times. He said that with the support of international organizations, including UNDP, Hanoi has and will continue to make important strides in improving urban quality in the direction of green and smart, associated with improving people's lives.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized that the cooperation contents signed this time are all within the priority areas of the Hanoi Capital Planning. Therefore, cooperation based on the Memorandum of Understanding will be a practical opportunity for Hanoi to implement pilot projects and innovative initiatives in public administration, clean energy, sustainable transport, disaster risk management and green economic development, thereby improving the quality of life of the people.
The Hanoi People's Committee believes that the six cooperation contents will bring about many positive results. The city requests that UNDP continue to closely coordinate with relevant sectors to concretize the goals and effectively implement the agreed cooperation activities.
Affirming Hanoi's commitment, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh said that departments and branches will actively cooperate with the UNDP agency in Hanoi to put the signed contents into practice, realizing the goal of sustainable and comprehensive development of the capital.
