Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone got into an argument and nearly got into a brawl with Dortmund's technical director Sebastian Kehl. Luckily, security separated the two before things got too serious.
When asked about the incident after the match, Mr. Sebastian Kehl said: “It was just a temporary emotion. We all had to control ourselves throughout this match. The cause came from a situation on the field. Simeone and I both understand what happened. Everything should stop here.”
In the match at home at the Metropolitano, Atletico Madrid took a 2-0 lead over Dortmund thanks to goals from De Paul (4') and Samuel Lino (32'). However, coach Diego Simeone's team had to work very hard when the visitors fought back strongly.
Dortmund reduced the score to 1-2 after Sebastien Haller scored in the 81st minute. The German team even almost equalized in the final minutes of the match but Atletico Madrid were lucky to be saved by the crossbar.
Evaluating the match, coach Diego Simeone said: “We played excellently in the first half and were still in control until the 70th minute. However, Dortmund were a tough opponent and they reduced the score to 1-2. This match could have even ended in a draw.”
According to the schedule, Atletico Madrid will visit Dortmund in the second leg of the quarter-finals of the European Cup 1 at 02:00 on the morning of April 17 (Vietnam time).
