VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu: Football for workers and civil servants will spread more strongly

That was the statement of Mr. Tran Anh Tu - Vice President of Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) about the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament 2025 which will kick off tomorrow, October 3.

Speaking before the opening day of the Northern qualifying round of the Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament 2025, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Anh Tu believes that the tournament, entering its third year, will continue to spread more strongly in both expertise and social values.

Mr. Tran Anh Tu shared: "The tournament has overcome difficulties in the first steps, gradually affirming its position as an annual, prestigious playground for workers and civil servants nationwide.

VFF sees the development not only in the demand for participation in the tournament, but more importantly in the professional quality, competitive spirit and organizational awareness of the participating units. With the support of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Tuoi Tre newspaper, the tournament has contributed very positively to improving the spiritual and cultural life, creating a useful playground for workers and civil servants after work hours."

* This year's tournament has a special meaning as it takes place after the merger of provinces and cities. What do you expect from this year's tournament?

- The merger of provinces and cities is a major administrative event, affecting many aspects. Among them, there may be changes in the organization and management of local sports . Personally, I believe that this is also an opportunity to improve the quality of football teams, so that localities can gather better resources, and select the best players from the old land, from the merged localities.

Therefore, VFF and the organizing committee (OC) hope that the tournament will continue to spread more strongly in both professional and social values. This means not only "playing fair, competing well" but also maintaining cohesion and improving the spiritual life of workers and civil servants. Especially in the context of changes in the administrative apparatus and local organizations.

* Compared to 2 years ago, this year's tournament only has 2 qualifying rounds in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and the final round. Will this cause the teams to lose the opportunity to compete and make the tournament less attractive?

- This is something that the Organizing Committee has carefully considered. Reducing the number of qualifying rounds and focusing more on two large areas, Hanoi (North) and Ho Chi Minh City (South), aims to ensure professional quality, better organization, and more effective resource management.

VFF understands that reducing the number of qualifying rounds means that some remote teams or some local teams will have difficulty or have little chance to participate in the tournament. However, with the change in structure after the merger of provinces and cities, revealing the "dream team" - that is, strong teams with better force gathering - is also a way to increase the competitiveness and attractiveness of the tournament.

VFF will work with Tuoi Tre newspaper to create the best conditions for the teams to show their full potential. Although the number of qualifying rounds is less, each match is still dramatic and highly professional. If there is feedback from the locality about the need for more participation, we are ready to listen to consider additional options in the following seasons.

* Despite being busy with many goals of Vietnamese football in 2025, including the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand at the end of the year, VFF still joins hands to organize the 2025 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament. How should VFF arrange to take care of everything?

- In 2025, there will be many important events for Vietnamese football. Including the SEA Games, as well as many youth tournaments, national tournaments, international tournaments... VFF will have to calculate and allocate resources in terms of personnel, time and expertise reasonably to ensure everything is well prepared.

Regarding the 2025 Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament, the Standing Executive Committee has directed professional departments to prepare plans early - from competition schedule, referees, facilities, medical staff, to field conditions. VFF will closely coordinate with the General Confederation of Labor, Tuoi Tre newspaper, units and localities to ensure the tournament is organized thoughtfully, professionally and does not affect other tasks.

In addition, fundraising, communications, logistics, etc. must all be carried out in parallel, with clear responsibilities. VFF commits to prioritizing professional support so that the tournament takes place with the highest quality, despite the tight schedule.

* Will there be any breakthrough in professional support from VFF this time, sir?

- VFF always considers the Football Tournament for workers and civil servants as part of the development of a widespread football movement in the community. Therefore, professional support will be increased in terms of organization, administration, referees and competition standards, ensuring the standards of regulations so that matches take place fairly and transparently.

In addition, VFF encourages participating teams to invite quality coaches, select players systematically, focus on professional training, training ground conditions and medical care. This is to ensure that workers and civil servants not only have fun but also have better development opportunities.

As far as we know, the Organizing Committee will continue to maintain activities such as sports medicine, free health consultations such as musculoskeletal diseases for workers to ensure the health of players, and this year will implement the "Love Bus" activity to support health examination and consultation, and provide free medicine for workers in the export processing zone.

With such careful preparation and comprehensive support, VFF believes that the 2025 Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament will continue to reap success, leaving many positive marks in both professional and social values.
