The benchmark score for 10th grade specialized in Ho Chi Minh City increased by the highest 5.25 points, physics "reversed"

On June 24, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City announced the benchmark scores for specialized and integrated 10th grade in 2024. Of which, Le Hong Phong High School has the highest benchmark score.

Specifically, the English specialized class (project) got 37.5/50 points, the highest among the specialized 10th grade classes in Ho Chi Minh City this year.

The second highest benchmark score is in the IT and math classes, also at this school, with both taking 37.25 points, an increase of 3.25 and 0.25 points respectively compared to last year.

The lowest standard score is for the history class of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, which requires 24.75 points. On average, candidates only need to score about 5 points per subject to pass.

Notably, this year, the benchmark score fluctuated strongly compared to 2023. According to statistics , 28 specialized/integrated subjects of 6 schools had a decrease in benchmark scores (first choice), 20 subjects had an increase in scores, and only 2 subjects remained unchanged. The highest benchmark score increase was 5.25 points, the strongest decrease was 4.25 points.

In general, the benchmark scores increased in specialized physics classes, in which, the specialized physics class of Gia Dinh High School increased by 5.25 points; the specialized physics class of Mac Dinh Chi High School increased by 4 points.

Last year, the specialized biology class was in the lead, but this year they all dropped. The benchmark scores dropped the most in the specialized biology class of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted and Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted with 33 and 34.75 points, down 4.25 points and 4 points respectively.

The entrance score for specialized literature classes also decreased by 1-3 points in all 6 schools. For integrated classes, the standard score is around 25.5-33, most of them remain the same or increase by 0.25-2.5 points, except Gia Dinh High School which decreased by 0.25.

The principle of considering the standard scores for specialized 10th grade is to only consider candidates who have taken all the required exams, have not violated the entrance exam regulations, and have a score greater than 2 on all exams.

The wishes are considered in order from top to bottom, the candidate who is admitted to a wish must study that wish. The Department of Education and Training notes that it will absolutely not resolve cases of changing the order, wishes, and specialized subjects after the registration period as prescribed.

If not admitted to specialized schools, junior high school graduates in Ho Chi Minh City can still take the entrance exam to regular grade 10 according to their 3 registered wishes.
