Many industries attract candidates

Speaking with VietNamNet, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Dung - Director of Information and Communications, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that the 2025 high school graduation exam takes place in the context of the new general education program being comprehensively implemented, leading to significant changes in the exam structure of many subjects.

The graduation exam questions generally follow the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training and are part of the curriculum, but are assessed to be slightly more difficult than in 2024, clearly demonstrating the requirement to apply knowledge, synthesis skills and practical thinking.

In which, the Literature subject is suggestive and limits "cramming". In particular, the social argument with the statement "The sky of any homeland is the sky of the Fatherland" creates conditions for candidates to express the depth of emotions and current affairs perspective.

Math has changed significantly according to the new program, with increased difficulty and high requirements for applied thinking - the average score is expected to be around 6-7, with very few candidates achieving 9-10.

Similarly, the exam questions for Foreign Languages and the remaining subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information Technology, History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, and Technology also show a trend towards increasing comprehensive and highly classified assessment of abilities, while minimizing the element of chance.

The emergence of new subjects such as Information Technology and Technology helps to expand the choices for candidates, however, the exams for these subjects are also of considerable length and complexity.

Ms. Dung said that, with the general level of this year's exam, the exam score range is predicted to be mainly concentrated in the range of 6-7. Traditional combinations such as A00, B00, D01 tend to be clearly differentiated, with common scores of 18-22, while the number of candidates achieving 25 points or more is not much. This score range basically meets the graduation assessment target, and at the same time, it is predicted that university benchmark scores will remain the same or decrease slightly in some majors.

At Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Dung predicted that the benchmark score based on the 2025 high school exam score will fluctuate between 16 and 21, depending on the major.

Among them, the majors that attract many candidates such as Information Technology, Multimedia Communications, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Marketing, Digital Marketing, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Automotive Engineering Technology, English Language... still maintain high competitiveness, with expected benchmark scores in the range of 18-20.

This year, the Math and English exams, especially English, are considered difficult. Is it a disadvantage for candidates to use these two subjects for admission?

Analyzing this issue, according to Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Dung, Director of Information and Communications, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, this year's high school graduation exam in English is considered by many teachers and candidates to be more difficult than in previous years. This makes many parents and candidates worry about the competitiveness in university admissions, especially with combinations that use English such as D01, A01, D14, etc.

However, candidates do not need to worry too much because when the exam is difficult, the scores will decrease across the board, and the admission benchmark will also be adjusted accordingly.

“In other words, if the exam is difficult, all candidates will be affected - that is the factor that creates fairness in the admission process. Therefore, admission with a combination of English subjects will not cause disadvantages for each candidate,” said Ms. Dung.
