(NLDO) - On the evening of March 12, the play "Waiting for Life" performed at Gia Dinh Park Circus (Hoang Minh Giam Street, Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City) attracted a large audience.
People's Artist Hong Trang and Meritorious Artist Hoai Linh created many emotions for the audience in the play "The Wharf for Life"
Audience cheered for the play "The Wharf for Life" by author Vo Minh Hai, the graduation performance of director Vo Duy Luan (real name Vo Van Luan - a student of director Le Thanh, and also a puppeteer at the Phuong Nam Art Theater - now the Ho Chi Minh City Art Center).
Director Vu Duy Luan emotionally expressed his gratitude to his teachers, family and the Southern Arts Theater (now Ho Chi Minh City Arts Center) for creating all the conditions for him to complete the work.
The play ended in the final scene with the audience cheering as the boat of the old man character, played by Hoai Linh, who specializes in carrying corpses, entered the stage, the water system created a downpour, and the music with the deep voice of singer Tiet Duy Hoa played, then the entire system lost power.
In the audience seats, many colleagues who came to watch such as Meritorious Artist Thanh Hoi, Meritorious Artist Nguyen Cong Ninh, Meritorious Artist Ca Le Hong, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Yen Chi... were all worried that the power failure would put the crew in danger. However, Meritorious Artist Le Dien said that it was a power outage from the power grid in the entire area. The anxious moment passed, colleagues and audiences who used their phones to shine lights continued to cheer and encourage Vu Duy Luan's performance, which was considered a daring performance.
Actor Lam Nguyen (middle) creates charming laughter in the play "The Wharf of Life"
Because, the story of the drama about human love in a poor riverside neighborhood is quite simple, but Vu Duy Luan chose to handle it on the circus stage. That is why the audience expected to see the flashback scene of the fire in the Lanh A textile factory told with a fire-breathing scene from above, or the audience was satisfied with the scene of two circus actors performing the character Con (Vo Ngoc Tan) silently going down to the bottom of the river to save Lanh (Bao Chau)...
Circus performers Kieu My and Minh Cuong performed excellent aerial trapeze acts, adding artistic effects to the play "The Wharf of Life"
Hoai Linh's character brought tears to the audience. His acting is still very attractive, although his fate is still faithful to the role of a country bumpkin, straightforward, accepting of disadvantages and humorous.
"The role of a Southern farmer that Hoai Linh played was loved by the public through plays such as: "After Tet, I'll Marry You", "Sau Banh's Sorrow", "Hiu hiu gio bac"... and he will always promote his strengths to create laughter, along with thoughts about life" - Meritorious Artist Ca Le Hong commented.
Actors Vo Ngoc Tan and Bao Chau bring many emotional layers in the play "The Wharf of Life"
Indeed, watching Meritorious Artist Hoai Linh perform with emotional acting, the majority expect the play to be re-performed, the number of audiences will be large because they still love Hoai Linh and the actors such as: Hong Trang, Bao Chau, Vo Ngoc Tien, Nguyen Hong Dao, Lam Nguyen, Lam Thang, Le Anh Bang, Phuc Zelo...
Handling large spaces, turning the circus stage into Ms. Lanh's incense workshop, creating beautiful art designs in the play "Waiting for Life"
Associate Professor Dr. Tran Yen Chi commented that Vu Duy Luan had put in a lot of effort when performing his graduation work at the circus. The process of artistic labor from being a drama actor, then moving to the water puppet stage had given him the opportunity to summarize many valuable lessons.
Under the guidance of People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau, after the work "The Wharf for Life", Vu Duy Luan was able to advance in his role as a stage director. The happiest person was director Le Thanh because she always expected her student to improve day by day.
The performance clearly depicted Vu Duy Luan’s serious journey of working and learning his craft. He is expected to go further on his artistic path with his persistent dedication after this debut work.
