Vietnamese athletics won bronze medal, broke national record at Asian tournament

The Vietnamese athletics team entered the first day of competition with the mixed 4x400m relay at the 2024 Asian Athletics Relay Championships in Thailand. The runners of the mixed 4x400m relay for Vietnamese athletics, in order of starting, include: Nguyen Xuan Quang, Le Thi Tuyet Mai, Le Ngoc Phuc, and Quach Thi Lan. The Indian team won the gold medal with a time of 3 minutes 14.12 seconds. Second place was Sri Lanka with a time of 3 minutes 17.0 seconds. In the mixed 4x400m relay team of Vietnam, Quach Thi Lan is the most experienced athlete, having won 2 gold medals (400m and 4x400m relay for women) at the Asian Games in 2017. She also marked her return to the continental arena since being banned from competing after the 31st SEA Games in 2022 for doping. The remaining three runners are all young, potential factors of Vietnamese athletics. Specifically, in the most recent achievements, Nguyen Xuan Quang (20 years old, Hanoi unit) won a silver medal in the men's 4x400m relay, a gold medal in the mixed 4x400m relay at the 2023 National Athletics Championship. Le Thi Tuyet Mai (18 years old, Nghe An unit) won a bronze medal in the women's 4x400m relay at the 2023 National Athletics Championship, won the 400m event at the National Youth Championship, the 2023 Southeast Asian Youth Championship and most recently won a ticket to the 2024 U20 World Athletics Championship.
