Sharing with VietNamNet, actress Lan Phuong said she unilaterally filed for divorce from her British husband David Duffy in May. The court session opened at 8:30 a.m. on September 9, so the actress from the movie "Love on a Sunny Day" arrived at the Hanoi People's Court early. She kept a cheerful demeanor, went bare-faced, dressed simply, and carried her daughter Mia to court with her. Because the baby was sick, Lan Phuong was forced to bring her along.

However, her husband was not present at the trial. The judge then announced the postponement of the first instance trial of Lan Phuong's divorce case with her husband Tay because the defendant, David Duffy, was not present and had filed a request for postponement. The court secretary asked Lan Phuong to stay to receive the decision to postpone the trial to September 17.
Previously, the actress informed VietNamNet about David Duffy's announcement to postpone the trial from the afternoon of September 8. Therefore, Lan Phuong was not surprised by the judge's announcement about her Western husband's absence and only needed to be present for the court clerk to record.
"According to the regulations, I had an appointment so I went to court. When I went, the court officially announced a postponement and decided to hold the trial for another day," Lan Phuong shared with VietNamNet. She said that David's request to postpone the trial made her a bit tired because the actress had anticipated the incident.

During this time, Lan Phuong spent all her time with her two daughters while handling divorce proceedings with her Western husband after 7 years of marriage. After giving birth to her second child in March 2024, the actress born in 1983 shared that she suffered from depression for a long time. Before filing for divorce, Lan Phuong had many serious health problems. She had to see a psychiatrist and was diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder and mild depression.
Lan Phuong frankly faced the mental problems she was facing and found ways to overcome them. She worked hard to regain her old figure, improve her physical and mental health and return to acting. The actress will soon appear in the film Gió ngang khoa khoa troi xanh, which is currently airing on VTV3.
