Inspection team works at restaurant in Nha Trang accused of 'rip-off'

After failing to meet the owner of the restaurant on the afternoon of February 5, the interdisciplinary inspection team of Nha Trang City People's Committee came to work with the owner of Aroma Beach restaurant in Nha Trang on the evening of February 6.

According to Tuoi Tre Online , at around 7:30 p.m. the same day, an interdisciplinary inspection team of Nha Trang City People's Committee came to work at Aroma Beach restaurant (Nguyen Thien Thuat street, Tan Tien ward, Nha Trang city).

The interdisciplinary delegation includes officials from Nha Trang City People's Committee, Tan Tien Ward People's Committee, Nha Trang City Tax Department, Khanh Hoa Market Management Department... led by Mr. Nguyen Dinh Anh Minh, Head of Finance - Planning Department of Nha Trang City People's Committee.

Here, the delegation checked the menu, computer and documents related to the restaurant's business activities.

At the same time, the authorities requested Mr. Ho Van Tam (owner of Aroma Beach restaurant) to extract and hand over the camera footage recording the moment the Chinese group came to dine at this restaurant.

However, when reporters approached to record details of the meeting, Mr. Minh asked reporters to leave. To ensure security and order, Tan Tien Ward Police were also mobilized to the scene.

At the time of inspection, Mr. Tam only presented the business registration certificate of Dai Phat Tam Nha Trang Company Limited (address at 38 Nguyen Thien Thuat, Nha Trang) of which he is the director; some licenses related to the food service business were missing.

In addition, Aroma Beach restaurant also has incorrect signs, billboards, and unclear price lists that can easily confuse customers.

At 10:30 p.m. the same day, the interdisciplinary inspection team of Nha Trang City People's Committee finished inspecting Aroma Beach restaurant.

At the end of the working session, Tuoi Tre Online asked Mr. Nguyen Dinh Anh Minh about the results of the inspection of the Aroma Beach restaurant accused of "ripping off" tourists. Mr. Minh said that only Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee Tran Minh Chien had spoken to the press about the information related to this incident.

That same evening, Tuoi Tre Online contacted Mr. Chien but he did not respond.

Previously, the interdisciplinary inspection team of Nha Trang City People's Committee had come to work with the owner of Aroma Beach restaurant in Nha Trang on the afternoon of February 5. However, the team did not meet the owner of this restaurant.

As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , on the evening of February 4, Facebook spread an article titled: A restaurant in Nha Trang charges sky-high prices, "ripping off" foreign tourists .

The article's content reflects that the bill shows very expensive dishes such as grilled eggplant with scallion oil for 1,890,000 VND/portion, stir-fried water spinach with garlic for 500,000 VND per plate, and many other dishes sold at high prices.
