On the first day of the meeting, all 26 players on the call-up list were present, quickly settled down and went to the training ground that same afternoon. The training session attracted great attention from the media, showing the fans' expectations for the women's team on their journey to defend the SEA Games Gold Medal.
Speaking before the training session, head coach Mai Duc Chung said: “Currently, 26 athletes have fully gathered. Some coaches and players of Ho Chi Minh City club cannot attend because they are preparing for the Asian women's club tournament taking place in November. In the coming time, the team will continue to train at the Center and compete in 3 friendly matches from now until November 20.”
After the training period in Hanoi , the Vietnamese women's team will go to Japan for training from November 20 and is expected to play three friendly matches with clubs of suitable professional level, arranged with support from the Japan Football Association (JFA).
This is an important part of the plan to improve their skills and gain international competition experience. After the training trip, the team will return to Ho Chi Minh City to adapt to the weather similar to Thailand, before moving to the 33rd SEA Games competition venue.

“The team has had many opportunities to compete with strong opponents such as France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and recently the Australian women's youth team at the Southeast Asian tournament. Although their physique and physical strength are still limited, the Vietnamese players have a resilient fighting spirit and endurance. During this period, the coaching staff will increase physical and tactical exercises to improve their ability to compete in close quarters,” coach Mai Duc Chung shared.
In terms of personnel, this training session has seen some notable changes. Veteran midfielder Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung has officially moved to coaching locally and is no longer part of the national team. Meanwhile, experienced mainstays like Huynh Nhu and Pham Hai Yen continue to be trusted to be called up thanks to their consistent performance and good physical condition.
In addition, the team also added young faces who were called up for the first time, notably Thanh Hieu and Tran Nhat Lan - two players highly appreciated by the coaching staff for their development potential, readiness to approach tactics and integrate with the team's general playing style.
In another development, three players Thai Thi Thao, Duong Thi Van and Ngan Thi Van Su are still recovering from injuries and are currently practicing according to their own training plan.
The Vietnamese women's team is aiming to defend the SEA Games Gold Medal - a title that has become a symbol of aspiration and persistent effort, while preparing the human resources and professional foundation for important international tournaments in 2026.
