The Red River Delta leads the country's growth

The GRDP growth rate of the entire Red River Delta region in the first 6 months of the year reached 9.32%, leading all socio-economic regions in the country.

On the morning of September 20, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the 6th meeting of the Red River Delta Coordination Council.

In his opening speech, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that the Red River Delta region plays a very important role. After the merger, the region includes 6 localities: Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh and Ninh Binh, all of which are economic locomotives and growth poles of the region and the country.

The GRDP growth rate of the whole region in the first 6 months of the year reached 9.32%, leading all socio-economic regions in the country.

Of which, 4/6 localities achieved double-digit growth rates or higher, Hai Phong ranked 2nd in the country with 11.2%, Quang Ninh ranked 3rd in the country with 11.03%, Bac Ninh and Ninh Binh reached 10.47% and 10.82% respectively.

According to the Prime Minister, this continues to be an advantage for localities to join forces to promote the potential and strengths of the region with the leading and pioneering role in implementing the nation's strategic tasks, leading the whole country to develop more strongly.

With a growth target of 8.3-8.5% in 2025 and double digits in the following years, there is still much to do. Besides the opportunities and advantages, the Red River Delta also faces enormous challenges.

The Head of Government raised the issue of continuing to exploit and effectively use resources, including human resources, natural resources, including land, rich and heroic cultural and historical traditions, with the capital Hanoi, a thousand-year-old civilization, many world heritages such as Ha Long Bay, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Trang An scenic complex, Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son relic and scenic complex, Kiep Bac...

The Prime Minister proposed discussing what needs to be done to promote growth drivers of localities and regions, fundamental solutions to address bottlenecks, limitations, difficulties and challenges; operating two-level local governments; solving problems related to air pollution, wastewater, waste, etc.

The Prime Minister emphasized the determination to turn the Red River Delta into one of the most important driving forces of the country, together with the Southeast region, creating momentum and inspiration for other regions, contributing to promoting rapid and sustainable growth of the country.

According to reports at the conference, in the first months of 2025, the Red River Delta continued to affirm its leading position in the country in many fields.

In the first 8 months of 2025, the region had the highest total state budget revenue among economic regions, reaching over VND 814,600 billion (accounting for 46.8% of the country's total revenue).

The region's export turnover reached 129.3 billion USD, accounting for about 32.5% of the country's export turnover. The region's disbursement rate reached 53.6% of the assigned plan, higher than the national average (about 46.3%). The service sector has a good recovery trend, in particular, the tourism industry is a bright spot with high growth rate: Hanoi (up 20.9%), Quang Ninh (up 17.2%).

In the first 8 months of 2025, nearly 42,800 newly established enterprises, accounting for 33.3% of the country, with registered capital of VND 512,600 billion, accounting for 40.8% of the total capital of the country.
