The class at the 10th grade of Ha Tinh University Primary, Secondary and High School was lively and exciting with the active participation of Laotian students. After 9 months of studying Vietnamese, the students have quickly integrated, actively speaking and exchanging knowledge with teachers and friends. This has helped them not only overcome language barriers but also contribute to creating a multicultural, friendly and inspiring educational environment.
Khomsaksith Phetsalin - Class 10A4, Ha Tinh University Primary, Secondary and High School shared: "I really like studying subjects like Literature, Math, English... we have tried our best to complete our program well with the help of Vietnamese teachers and friends".

It is known that in 2024, after considering a number of recommendations and proposals from all levels and sectors, the People's Council of Ha Tinh province issued Resolution 139 amending and supplementing a number of articles of Resolution 118. The highlight of which is the addition of Lao high school students as the target group for support. After the resolution was issued, Ha Tinh University enrolled 19 Lao students to study Vietnamese at the school. Studying from high school level will create better conditions for them to study other majors later.
In the 2025-2026 school year, Ha Tinh University Primary, Secondary and High School has more than 260 10th grade students studying in 6 classes, of which Lao international students are arranged to study with Vietnamese students in 3 classes. This is the first school to receive Lao international high school students in the province.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, Principal of Ha Tinh University Primary, Secondary and High School, said: "This is the first year of implementation, so there are many difficulties and the school has tried to overcome them. Lao international students study with their friends according to the 2018 General Education Program and the school's enhanced program. In addition, the school also supplements Vietnamese for them, especially specialized terms and subjects when studying high school."

With outstanding advantages such as: favorable geographical location, good training quality, attention and support from the school, as well as support policies of the province. Ha Tinh has been chosen by many generations of Lao students from the provinces of Bolikhamxay, Kham Muon, Savannakhet as a study destination.
To prepare well for the training program, Ha Tinh Medical College has proactively sent teachers to Laos to learn about customs and practices and learn Lao language to communicate effectively and support students in the learning process. In each class, teachers always actively guide and create opportunities for students to interact and actively acquire knowledge from Vietnamese lessons to specialized lessons. Athsomphanh Khamla - Ha Tinh Medical College shared: "We always try to study together and help new students to learn Vietnamese better. As Secretary of the Lao Youth Union at Ha Tinh Medical College, I and my friends have connected international students to actively and enthusiastically participate in programs and activities organized by the school such as arts and sports".
Dr. Tran Chien Thang - Principal of Ha Tinh Medical College added: "Lao students have made efforts to study actively and diligently. In addition to arranging teaching staff, the school also added many equipment and machinery for students to practice, helping them have solid skills before they go to practice at the facilities".

To meet the living and studying needs of students, since 2010, Ha Tinh province has paid attention to implementing support policies. Policies from Resolutions 118 and 139 of the Ha Tinh Provincial People's Council support Lao students to buy health insurance cards and have general health check-ups; for students who are eligible for scholarships, they are supported with living expenses at the rate of 2.5 million VND/person/month for students and 3 million VND/person/month for officials working at state agencies who are studying for advanced degrees in Ha Tinh... have helped Lao students maintain good academic results and actively participate in other training and educational activities of the school. Notably, after graduation, many students have returned to their hometowns, taking on jobs at local agencies and units, contributing to supplementing qualified human resources and becoming a bridge in cooperative relationships.
Mr. Tran Manh Hung - Deputy Director of Ha Tinh Department of Foreign Affairs affirmed: "The resolutions supporting Lao students demonstrate the consistent policy of Ha Tinh province, giving special priority to foreign relations with Lao localities. When drafting the resolution, we added a number of support regimes as well as increased the level of each support regime, creating conditions for Lao students to study and live in the province with peace of mind. This is highly appreciated by Lao localities, creating a ripple effect to attract Lao students to study in Ha Tinh province."
The tireless efforts of Lao students studying and integrating together with the dedication and openness of teachers and students in Ha Tinh have been writing a beautiful story about Vietnam - Laos friendship. Not only is it a deeply humane educational model, but it also contributes to fostering solidarity between the two nations. We believe that, from this solid foundation, Lao students studying abroad will have more valuable provisions to firmly step on the path of the future, becoming bridges of friendship, contributing to building a more stable, developed and closely connected region.
