According to statistics, Dong Phuc commune has 340 hectares of Shan Tuyet tea, of which 316 hectares are being harvested, 10 hectares are grown according to VietGAP standards, and 10 hectares meet organic standards. With its unique characteristics, Shan Tuyet tea is identified as the local key crop, playing an important role in the commune's agricultural production structure, helping people have a stable income, aiming at the goal of sustainable poverty reduction.

Having been attached to Shan Tuyet tea trees for more than 20 years, Ms. Nong Thi Tham's family in Na Bay village considers this a key crop, both creating jobs and helping to increase income. Currently, Ms. Tham's family has more than 2 hectares of Shan Tuyet tea trees. Thanks to investment in care according to the correct technical process from pruning, fertilizing, weeding, the Shan Tuyet tea trees grow and develop well, produce even buds and have stable quality.

Ms. Nong Thi Tham shared: The local Shan Tuyet tea variety has good resistance, is suitable for the climate conditions of Dong Phuc commune, so it grows evenly and gives stable productivity. Currently, all of the family's fresh tea materials after harvest are linked to consumption through local cooperatives. Thanks to the stable output, the family is confident in investing in care to improve the productivity and quality of the local Shan Tuyet tea tree.

Shan Tuyet tea growers in Dong Phuc have known how to apply science and technology in cultivation, gradually becoming familiar with safe production processes such as organic and VietGAP.

Many households have proactively linked with local cooperatives to grow and consume fresh tea leaves for processing and production.

In Dong Phuc commune, there are currently 4 cooperatives specializing in processing and consuming tea products, contributing to creating stable output and increasing income for people.

At Bang Phuc yeast wine cooperative in Na Pai village, in addition to traditional wine production, the cooperative has also expanded its activities to the field of growing and processing Shan Tuyet tea locally. The cooperative has linked up with 25 households to develop a 6-hectare raw material area, ensuring both supply for processing and creating jobs and income for members and associated households.

Notably, the Cooperative's Shan Tuyet To Hoai Tea product has achieved a 3-star OCOP provincial certification in 2024. This is an important stepping stone for the cooperative to continue expanding its scale, improving quality, and gradually bringing the Dong Phuc Shan Tuyet Tea brand further.

Mr. To Huu Hoai, a member of Bang Phuc yeast wine cooperative, said: The cooperative always attaches importance to improving quality, innovating packaging, and focusing on promoting and introducing products to a wide range of consumers. The cooperative also hopes that all levels and sectors will pay attention to supporting capital, technology and modern processing machinery, contributing to increasing the value of tea trees and creating sustainable livelihoods for people.

To increase the economic value of Shan Tuyet tea trees, Dong Phuc commune has implemented a scientific project on Shan Tuyet tea tree conservation chaired by the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Thai Nguyen province. After a period of implementation, it has brought many positive results, opening up a research direction, widely promoting the image of Dong Phuc Shan Tuyet tea trees to consumers in and outside the province.

Mr. Trieu Duc Thong, Vice Chairman of Dong Phuc Commune People's Committee, said: Identifying Shan Tuyet tea as a key crop in the development of local agricultural and forestry economy, the commune will continue to mobilize people to apply techniques, improve productivity and quality of tea trees. At the same time, utilize resources to support cooperatives and enterprises to invest in deep processing to increase value, build tea brands, and improve income for people.
