Due to the influence of the low pressure trough passing through the North, combined with the strong southwest monsoon, today, the North of our country continues to have widespread rain and bad weather.
Flash flood risk in the North
This morning, August 6, the North continued to have rain in many places. Particularly in the North Son La area, there was heavy rain, while in Hanoi there was light rain, the sky was still cloudy.

It is forecasted that from this afternoon and tonight, rain will increase again, especially in mountainous provinces such as Lai Chau, Dien Bien , Son La, Lao Cai... there is a possibility of very heavy rain locally, which can easily cause flash floods and landslides.

The cause is due to the low pressure trough combined with the high-altitude wind convergence that is operating stably, causing rain to last in bouts during the day, mainly concentrated in the evening.
Central region is hot
While some places in the North Central region have heavy rain like the North, today, the Central Central and South Central regions continue to be hot, with many places experiencing temperatures up to 36 degrees Celsius, dry and hot weather.
The reason is that this area is still deep in the subtropical high pressure area, so there is almost no cooling rain, low humidity, and the feeling of heat increases.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that the risk of forest fires and domestic water shortages in the mountainous areas of the West Central region remains high.
Thunderstorms may recur in the South
On the afternoon of August 5, Ho Chi Minh City was hit by a very heavy rain that caused severe flooding. The Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention warned that currently in the South and the Central Highlands (Central Highlands), the stable southwest monsoon has brought moist clouds deep inland.
This morning, scattered rain appeared along the coast, however thunderstorms will concentrate from the afternoon and last until the evening, with some places experiencing moderate to heavy rain.
Temperatures in the South range from 25-36 degrees Celsius, with Ho Chi Minh City reaching 36 degrees Celsius. It's hot and sunny, but in the afternoon there may be heavy rain like on the afternoon of August 5-8.
