Cat Ba Island mainly welcomes international visitors.
According to information from the Hai Phong City Department of Tourism , due to the impact of storm No. 3, many large accommodation establishments and other services still need time to recover and cannot resume operations.
Up to this point, on Cat Ba Island, Cat Hai District, Hai Phong City, traffic infrastructure, environmental sanitation, electricity, water, and telecommunications have been restored, and tourism activities have returned to normal.
However, only 33/313 tourist accommodation establishments and 53/65 tourist accommodation ships have resumed operations.
Cat Ba town was severely damaged by the storm, so many accommodation facilities and tourism service businesses have not been able to return to normal operations.
In Lan Ha Bay of Cat Ba archipelago, most of the cruise ships and tourist boats have been repaired and are almost finished. Cruise ships and overnight boats such as Heritage Cruises Binh Chuan, Cat Ba Archipelago, Orchid Cruises, Mon Chéri, La Casta, Scarlet Pearl have welcomed guests back this week.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, owner of an accommodation facility on Cat Ba Island, said that this is the end of the tourist season and the new school year, so visitors to Cat Ba Island are mainly international visitors, with few Vietnamese visitors.
"Many places are still damaged by the storm and will take a long time to repair. Business owners, in addition to mobilizing funds for repairs, are also lacking the manpower to overcome the damage after the storm," said Mr. Hung.
The owner of Le Pont Cat Ba Bungalow tourist facility said that the damage caused by storm No. 3 is estimated to be up to 6-7 billion VND. If there is enough human resources and new finance, the facility can be repaired by early next week to welcome tourists again.
Do Son operates at about 50% capacity.
In tourist areas in Do Son district, Hai Phong city, electricity, water, telecommunication network… have stabilized. But trees are still scattered, tourists are sparse.
Preliminary statistics in Do Son show that some establishments that were less affected by storm No. 3 welcomed tourists back immediately after the storm, such as: Dragon Hill International Tourist Area, Hai Yen Hotel, Lam Nghiep Hotel...
Beach in Zone 2, Van Huong Ward, Do Son District, is deserted with tourists. People collect trash on the beach to burn.
Do Son opened to welcome tourists about 4 days later than Cat Ba. By September 16, more than 50% of tourist establishments in Do Son district welcomed guests again.
At Dragon Hill International Tourist Area, many major entertainment areas such as water parks and artificial beaches have not yet opened. Beach Zone 2 in Van Huong Ward, Do Son District has no swimmers, and restaurants have resumed operations at a limited pace.
Through the investigation of the reporter, due to the limited number of visitors to Do Son at the present time, mainly people from Hai Phong city, most restaurants and entertainment venues are "hungry" for customers.
Do Son District mobilized more than 100 cadres, union members, and civil servants to participate in general cleaning of the roads due to too many fallen trees that had not been cleared.
The leader of Van Huong ward, Do Son district said: "Businesses and accommodation establishments hope that this weekend, the traditional Do Son buffalo fighting festival will attract a large number of tourists to Do Son."
Many entertainment spots at Dragon Hill International Tourist Area remain closed after storm No. 3.
To prepare for the Do Son Traditional Buffalo Fighting Festival 2024, which will take place on September 21, the People's Committee of Do Son district has mobilized forces from departments, branches, organizations, agencies, military units, and environmental workers to urgently collect and clean up trash and fallen trees for tourists to visit, swim, and relax, ensuring environmental sanitation as well as creating a clean and beautiful image for Do Son tourism.
