On the afternoon of September 2, regarding the question, while the whole country was looking towards Ba Dinh Square - Hanoi, where important political and historical events of the nation took place, Hue City still organized a boat race on the morning of September 2. Is the organization of this activity really suitable for the general atmosphere of the whole country, when other localities have many activities towards the important event in Hanoi?

The representative of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City affirmed that the boat racing activity on the Perfume River on the morning of September 2 has a completely positive meaning, in line with the spirit of celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day and is inseparable from the general atmosphere of the whole country. Because, boat racing is a traditional community sports and cultural activity. For generations, the people of Hue have maintained the boat racing festival as an occasion to connect the community, practice health, and demonstrate martial spirit. This is not only a water sport but also a cultural symbol associated with the life of residents along the Perfume River.

Along with that, in terms of history, boat racing also inherits the spirit of training sailors from the time of the Nguyen lords.
When Phu Xuan became the capital of Dang Trong, the Nguyen Lord's elite navy contributed to many victories against foreign invaders. That tradition is preserved through boat races as a way to educate the nation's patriotism, resilience and will to overcome difficulties.
In Hue alone, this is the 36th time the city has organized a boat race on September 2. This tradition has become a "brand" of Hue.
"It can be said that when the whole country turned to Ba Dinh Square - Hanoi to commemorate the important historical moment, in Hue, people also joined in the joy with a form of celebration that has local identity, but with the same meaning: gratitude to history, upholding national spirit and spreading positive energy on National Day. Therefore, the boat race on the Perfume River did not "fall out of sync" with the whole country, but also contributed to multiplying the joyful and united atmosphere", the leader of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City affirmed.
