Bright spots
The northwestern mountainous area of the city has 13 communes: Song Vang, Song Kon, Dong Giang, Ben Hien, Avuong, Tay Giang, Hung Son, Thanh My, Ben Giang, Nam Giang, La Dee, La Ee and Dak Pring.
In recent years, the work of job creation in general and sending workers to work abroad for a limited period of time in particular has had many positive changes. From living only on slash-and-burn farming, people have boldly gone to work in countries such as Japan, Korea, Laos, etc. to improve their income and raise their living standards.
Five years ago, Mrs. Tran Thi Hoa's family (Song Vang commune) was one of the poorest households in the commune. To improve their lives, Mrs. Hoa's daughter decided to go to work in Japan, saving money to send back home to help her family. Currently, Mrs. Hoa has built a new, spacious house and has capital to invest in livestock, increasing her income.
In La Dee commune, thanks to working abroad, dozens of families have capital to invest in business, develop livestock farming, and escape poverty sustainably.
Mr. To Ngol Nhu (in La Dee commune) said: “For nearly a year now, I have been going to Laos to work in banana care and harvesting. The job is simple, does not require a degree or high skills, so it is very suitable for people in the mountainous areas. Every month, I save and send home about 15 million VND to cover expenses and as start-up capital after returning home.”
Mr. Le Van Tu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Song Vang commune, said that sending workers abroad to work brings many benefits to the people and the locality.
For the family and the workers themselves, working abroad brings a good source of income. From there, it becomes a clear “living proof”, together with the local government, to encourage people to change their awareness and habits in job searching.
Strengthen communication
In recent job fairs organized by the Department of Home Affairs in mountainous communes, the issue of sending workers abroad to work has received much attention from the public.
Units and businesses that send workers to work abroad disseminate a lot of useful information about related situations, potential markets, support policies, income, etc. so that workers can gain more understanding and change their awareness.
At a recent job fair in Tay Giang commune, 10 companies and businesses participated in recruitment with thousands of vacant positions.
Notably, many businesses have a need to recruit 200 to 500 workers to work in countries such as Japan, Korea, Germany and some European countries. The diverse recruiting industries include: automotive technology, electrical equipment assembly, metal welding and painting, machine maintenance, elderly care, nursing, etc.
In addition to learning about the market, workers are also informed about regulations on working abroad, loan support policies, etc. to choose suitable jobs.
Mr. ARat Nhuoc (Tay Giang commune) shared: “The job fair had a lot of useful information. I am looking for an opportunity to go to Korea or Japan to work in the agriculture and livestock sectors.”
The leader of Song Vang commune said that sending workers to work abroad is one of the targets set out in the commune Party resolution, and is identified by the local government as an important task.
“Currently, Song Vang commune has a policy of cooperating with the city's departments, branches and sectors and will register local youth and workers to work abroad if they meet the requirements. At the same time, it will coordinate with vocational schools to promote vocational training for workers, ensuring that workers will have immediate and stable jobs after completing their studies,” said Mr. Le Van Tu, Chairman of Song Vang Commune People's Committee.
Mr. Do Huu Tung, Chairman of Song Kon Commune People's Committee, informed that the locality will soon organize a job exchange, inviting units with needs in the above mentioned fields to participate. The goal is to send at least 10 youth union members to participate in the overseas labor market.
In particular, pay special attention to the following forces: demobilized soldiers, demobilized police, and unemployed college and university students.
“These subjects are fully qualified to participate in the foreign labor market, especially in countries such as Japan and Korea. These are countries with stable incomes and cultures and lifestyles similar to Vietnam,” Mr. Tung shared.
Mr. Tung said that people in the highlands often have a cautious mentality and are afraid to travel far. The locality will increase advocacy and propaganda to gradually change people's awareness and habits of finding jobs, considering working abroad as a typical direction to eliminate poverty.
In addition, the locality focuses on training and equipping people with basic skills and expertise before they go to work abroad to ensure high efficiency in the working process.
