Cultural diplomacy also opens up opportunities for Gia Lai to effectively promote investment promotion and tourism development activities in the coming time.
Pride of identity
During the performance from September 7 to 11 in the land of the rising sun, 9 Gia Lai artists participated as bright representatives of the Central Highlands.
The number of participants is small, so the artists in the troupe must be multi-talented. Artist Ksor Huon (Breng 2 village, Ia Hrung commune) is the main male voice of the troupe with the mash-up performances "Warm and prosperous village - Solidarity festival" and "Full moon night - Picking bitter melon", but he still "fits the role" when performing gongs and traditional Jrai musical instruments.

Having performed at the World Sound Festival in Korea in 2023, Huon was still moved when participating in this trip. He said that the Japanese people and international tourists were very friendly and warm when accepting different cultures. “Many people waited to see the group’s performance a second or third time. When we got off the stage, they immediately came to ask and learn about Jrai culture and music ,” Huon happily said.
One of his most memorable experiences was when he dropped his gong on stage because he was too engrossed in his performance. The artist, born in 1993, also expressed his impression of the culinary quintessence and the cleanliness and science in the host country. For him, this trip was not only an opportunity to promote his identity but also a rare opportunity to broaden his horizons.

Surprise was also the feeling of Puih H'Ly (Brel village, Ia Hrung commune), a member of the Pleiku Ward Artisan Team, on her first trip abroad. Although she was quite nervous, her identity was like a smoldering fire, just waiting to be ignited. At EXPO 2025, the beauty of the young Jrai girl completely conquered the audience through her xoang dance and playing the small t'rung.
H'Ly said that after the performance, many audience members rushed up to praise the performances and asked to take photos with them. Some people really liked the hand-woven brocade costume that H'Ly was wearing and wanted to learn about the traditional weaving craft of the Central Highlands people. Language differences were quickly and effectively supported by Google Translate. Another audience member shared that he had planned to travel to Vietnam, and the emotion after enjoying this performance urged him to go.
Spreading the spirit of traditional martial arts
During the recent cultural exchange trip to Japan, athletes from Binh Dinh Traditional Martial Arts Center (Gia Lai) also brought many unique martial arts performances, contributing to spreading the quintessence of traditional martial arts to international friends.

Coach Nguyen Van Canh, who is in charge of the martial arts content of the provincial traditional martial arts team, is still emotional even though the performance trip ended a few days ago. He said: “As soon as we knew we would be going to Japan, we immediately selected 8 athletes who had good achievements, good techniques and trained with the highest spirit. We wanted to convey the spirit and spirit of Tay Son. Japanese audiences are knowledgeable about martial arts, so we had to do everything we could to make them feel the quintessence of Binh Dinh traditional martial arts.”
According to coach Nguyen Van Canh, the martial arts troupe continuously participated in many main programs. Among them, there were 2 independent performances: "The Quintessence of the Martial Land" combining dance, music, martial arts performance and especially the performance "Tay Son's Heroic Spirit". This performance included a series of 4 martial arts performances demonstrating fists, weapons, and sparring, with some martial arts exercises such as Nap Ma Mon Cuong, Dao Lang Khien, Song Phuong Kiem, Khong Thu Doi Truat Tam Dao. He shared: "After each performance, seeing the Japanese audience attentively following each martial art move and clapping loudly, I felt moved. At that time, I knew that my brothers had fulfilled their responsibility".

Among the 8 athletes participating in the trip is Tran Thuy Vy, a girl who has achieved many high achievements in regional and national tournaments. Most recently, Vy won a gold medal at the National Club Cup held in Thai Nguyen in 2025; and an individual gold medal at the National Traditional Martial Arts Club Championship in 2025.
Vy confided: “Not only me but everyone in the group was excited. This was the first time I set foot in Japan, I was very happy to see the beautiful scenery and learn about the culture. But what moved me most was the moment I stood on stage performing moves with the hope of spreading a bit of the traditional martial arts spirit of my home province. And when the audience applauded, I felt a surge of pride.”
Investment promotion and advertising opportunities
Accompanying the delegation on the above event, Vice Chairwoman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich was very pleased that the activities of Gia Lai artisans and athletes contributed significantly to the success of the Vietnamese delegation.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee informed: Vietnam National Day at EXPO 2025 is organized with many cultural and artistic activities; promoting and promoting trade and tourism to affirm the country's position, enhance political and cultural exchanges and promote bilateral economic cooperation. The activities of the Vietnamese delegation at EXPO 2025 were very interesting and received warm affection from the audience.

“Among them, Gia Lai’s performances were considered very unique and interesting. The primitive musical instruments, homemade from bamboo tubes and reeds; the traditional martial arts with confident, graceful and brave performances made the audience go from one surprise to another,” the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee acknowledged.
In particular, at the outdoor stage, the gong team and martial arts team created a strong effect when they performed and danced with tourists to the song " Like having Uncle Ho on the great victory day" . In addition, Professor-International violinist Chuong Vu, the program's guest, also contributed to sublimating the audience's emotions with the masterpiece " Dance of the Central Highlands" .

Also on this trip, Vice Chairwoman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich had a working session and paid a courtesy call to the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association in Osaka; worked with the Director of Marubeni Lumber (investing in a factory in Quy Nhon); and met with the Mayor of Izumisano City.
It can be seen that, through the path of cultural diplomacy, Gia Lai has successfully promoted the image of the province at an international event; along with that, there is an opportunity to expand foreign relations, strengthen the position and prestige of the province in the international arena, seek opportunities for cooperation and investment...
