Taylor Fritz has been the hero for Team World at the Laver Cup, taking home his third title in four years with a dramatic 15-9 win over Team Europe. The American was in top form, beating Carlos Alcaraz yesterday (September 21) and then going on to beat Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6(4) this morning, saving five crucial points on his way to victory.

Fritz completely controlled the match against Zverev, constantly applying pressure with a series of attacks. He broke Zverev's serve at 4-3 in the second set, and despite Zverev's last-ditch efforts, Fritz held on to win.

The victory also marked a successful debut for new captain Andre Agassi. The American legend fired up the home team, and Fritz could not hide his excitement: "Just seeing the boys on the bench excited, seeing a legend of the sport like Andre jump out of his seat and cheer for me, it made me excited and give it my all."

In the opening match of the final day of Laver Cup competition, Alcaraz and Casper Ruud gave Team Europe a much-needed win, reducing the deficit to 9-6 after Team World led 9-3 yesterday. The pair came back from 1-4 down in the first set tie-break to win 7-6(4), 6-1 over Alex Michelsen and Reilly Opelka.

"We were really strong, really solid. We did what we needed to do and I think it was quite effective," Alcaraz said of their patience, also impressing with an incredible volley midway through the second set that caught Michelsen off guard.

However, Alex de Minaur took Team World one win closer to the title by beating Jakub Mensik 6-3, 6-4. The Australian saved all five break points to give his team a 12-6 lead. "I'm used to fighting break points on serve. I do it for a living," De Minaur said with a laugh.

After winning the opening doubles match of the day, Alcaraz continued to shine in the must-win match against Francisco Cerundolo, completing the task with an overwhelming victory of 6-2, 6-1. This victory helped Team Europe reduce the gap to 12-9 and open up hopes of a comeback to win the championship.

So the match between Fritz and Zverev became the decisive battle. With Taylor Fritz's excellent performance, the World Team won the final, bringing home the prestigious Laver Cup trophy.
