According to the Hanoi Statistics Office, in the first 7 months of 2024, nearly 18,000 new enterprises were established, while industrial production in Hanoi recovered positively, increasing by 5.2% over the same period in 2023.
3,007 newly established enterprises
Hanoi Statistics Office said that in July 2024, Hanoi granted certificates to 3,007 newly established enterprises, up 20% over the same period last year; total registered capital reached VND 24,100 billion, up 4%.
In addition, 997 enterprises resumed operations, up 56% year-on-year. In contrast, 2,015 enterprises registered to temporarily suspend operations, up 43%, and 447 enterprises dissolved, up 52% year-on-year.
In the first 7 months of 2024, Hanoi City granted certificates to nearly 18,000 newly established enterprises, with a total registered capital of 162,100 billion VND. This result decreased by 2% in the number of enterprises and 9% in registered capital compared to the same period in 2023.
In addition, 6,600 businesses resumed operations, up 14% over the same period. 18,200 businesses registered to temporarily suspend operations, up 23%; 2,500 businesses dissolved, up 18%. The rate of online business registration applications was maintained at 100%, ensuring quality and timeliness.
Industrial production increased by 5.2%
The index of industrial production (IIP) in July increased by 2.3% over the previous month and by 6.2% over the same period in 2023; of which the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 2.2% and 5.9%; electricity production and distribution increased by 3.6% and 9.9%; water supply and waste and wastewater treatment increased by 0.5% and 5.1%; the mining industry decreased by 1.3% and 3.2%.
In the first 7 months of this year, the industrial production index increased by 5.2% over the same period, of which the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 4.4%.
Notably, in the first 7 months of 2024, a number of sectors in the processing and manufacturing industry achieved a fairly high growth rate compared to the same period, such as: Machinery and equipment production increased by 14.9%; paper and paper product production increased by 13.8%; bed, wardrobe, table and chair production increased by 11%; other processing and manufacturing industries increased by 9.1%; electrical equipment production increased by 8.7%; chemical and chemical product production increased by 7.8%.
In addition, 3 manufacturing industries had IIP index decrease compared to the same period: Wood processing and wood product manufacturing decreased by 5.1%; motor vehicle manufacturing decreased by 2.8%; leather and related product manufacturing decreased by 1.2%.
