Nearly 650 million VND to improve eye care capacity and provide examination and glasses for secondary school students

Today, January 22, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province approved a project to improve eye care capacity and provide eye examinations and glasses for secondary school students in some districts in Quang Tri, sponsored by The DOVE Fund and the Global Ophthalmology Organization ISEPS.

The project aims to improve the ophthalmological care capacity of doctors and health workers at the commune level in Quang Tri town; examine refractive errors and provide free glasses for secondary school students in Quang Tri town, Trieu Phong and Hai Lang districts.

The project implementation period is from the time the project is approved until the end of December 2025 with a total capital of nearly 650 million VND. The Quang Tri Provincial Community Development Fund is assigned to directly manage and implement the project.

Project activities include: training to improve ophthalmic care capacity and providing toolkits (Snellen eye test chart, eye test pinhole glasses, pointers, head magnifiers, Heine mini 3000 standard eye examination flashlight) in Quang Tri town.

Screening examinations at 17 secondary schools in Trieu Phong district; intensive eye examinations at 17 secondary schools in Trieu Phong district for students identified with refractive errors; screening examinations at 5 secondary schools in Quang Tri town including: Thanh Co, Luong The Vinh, Hai Le, Ly Tu Trong, Nguyen Tat Thanh; screening examinations at 3 secondary schools in Hai Lang district including: Hai Phu, Bui Duc Tai, Hai Tho; intensive eye examinations at 8 secondary schools in Quang Tri town and Hai Lang district for students identified with refractive errors.

Provide glasses to students who are prescribed to wear prescription glasses in Quang Tri town, Trieu Phong district and Hai Lang district. Evaluate the effectiveness of glasses use by students who have been provided with glasses.
