TPO - Contractors are focusing on human resources to complete the road system, asphalt paving, and auxiliary items of Ben Rung bridge connecting Hai Phong with Quang Ninh to ensure traffic opening in early May.

The Ben Rung Bridge construction investment project connecting Thuy Nguyen district (Hai Phong) with Quang Yen town ( Quang Ninh ) started in May 2022 with a total investment of VND 1,940 billion (VND 1,100 billion of central capital, more than VND 835 billion of local budget).

After 23 months of construction, by early April 2024, 96% of the construction volume was completed.

Ben Rung Bridge is a special-grade road bridge with a permanent structure crossing the Da Bach River, 1,865m long, including the main bridge and a 21.5m wide approach road. The main bridge consists of 4 Extradosed spans, the approach bridge consists of 34 SuperT girder spans. The abutments and piers are made of reinforced concrete, the foundation uses bored piles.

A representative of the Hai Phong Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board informed that as of early April 2024, 96% of the project volume had been completed.

Currently, contractors are focusing on mobilizing about 300 workers to complete the asphalt paving, paint road markings and complete the approach roads on both sides of the bridge.

Also according to the project management representative, after having a clean site, the construction unit focused on human resources, machinery and equipment to build the approach road across the bridge. The approach road on both sides of the bridge is 410m long, 22.5m cross-section with 4 lanes for motor vehicles, 2 lanes for mixed vehicles, median strip, and sidewalk.

Previously, in early April, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho - Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee chaired an inter-sectoral inspection of the project's progress. Mr. Tho requested the units to focus on paving the bridge's asphalt concrete surface, handling intersections, auxiliary infrastructure works, lighting systems, and access roads on both sides of the bridge to ensure progress for technical traffic opening on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 2024).

When completed and put into use, Ben Rung Bridge will improve the capacity of transport services, create an inter-regional transport connection system, meet the travel needs and socio -economic development between Hai Phong and Quang Ninh.
