* Mr. Nguyen Van Long, Director of the Department of Animal Health (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) commented that animal diseases in the world are very complicated. Among them, African swine fever is still very widespread, avian influenza occurs in 71 countries and territories with more than 6,300 outbreaks, the risk of infection is very high, foot-and-mouth disease broke out for the first time in the island nation of Indonesia, causing heavy losses...

Domestically, according to data from the Department of Animal Health, from the beginning of 2023 to now, the whole country has had 481 outbreaks of African swine fever in 42 provinces and cities, forcing the destruction of over 18,000 pigs.

Foot and mouth disease has occurred in 22 outbreaks of type O in 15 districts and towns of 11 provinces and cities, with 760 infected cattle and 26 destroyed. Lumpy skin disease has occurred in 100 outbreaks in 15 provinces and cities, with 468 infected cattle and 95 buffaloes and cows destroyed. Blue ear disease has occurred in 5 outbreaks, with 542 pigs dead and destroyed.

According to the Department of Animal Health, the risk of recurrence and spread of livestock and poultry diseases in the coming time remains high. In particular, there is a risk of African swine fever recurring and spreading widely in the coming time, because this disease virus can survive for a long time in the environment, and the transmission route is very complicated.
