Gia Lai reviews and invests in building schools in 7 border communes

On July 19, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, met with departments and 7 western border communes of the province to review and invest in building schools for students.

According to information from the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, the locality has 7 border communes adjacent to Cambodia, including: Ia Puch, Ia Mo, Ia O, Ia Chia, Ia Pnôn, Ia Nan, Ia Dom. In these 7 communes, there are 7 kindergartens and preschools, 6 primary schools, 4 secondary schools, 3 primary and secondary schools and 1 high school.

Most of these schools do not have boarding or day-boarding facilities. They also do not have accommodation for students, and teachers' accommodation is requisitioned from old, damaged and degraded rooms.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that the Central Government is expected to invest 150 billion VND in each border commune to build schools, public housing, and headquarters of agencies. This is an urgent matter that needs to be implemented soon so that students can enjoy new facilities and classrooms from 2026.

Therefore, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the communes to research, organize surveys, and evaluate the current status of schools to have investment and expansion plans, ensuring facilities. In particular, schools must meet standards, have boarding facilities so that students can study 2 sessions a day and stay for free lunch.

At the same time, it is necessary to plan playgrounds, boarding houses for students, and public housing for teachers, but pay attention to avoid places with high risks of natural disasters, landslides, and flash floods.
