In the context of the energy transition taking place more and more rapidly and playing an important role in the fight against global climate change, Vietnam is working with countries and organizations around the world to implement many large projects to achieve the goal of net zero emissions by 2050. Especially projects to train, raise awareness and expertise in the field of new energy and clean energy.

The University of Electricity is known as the "Cradle" of training energy human resources, the pillar of national energy security. Over the years, the University of Electricity has affirmed its role in contributing to ensuring energy security, successfully implementing Resolution 59-NQ/TW and Resolution 70-NQ/TW on International Integration and Cooperation in the New Situation.

With a training scale of nearly 25,000 students and trainees and providing about 70% of human resources for Vietnam's electricity industry, the University of Electricity always affirms its pioneering role in training key energy human resources of the country.

Currently, the School is assigned by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to be the main training facility in the energy transition process, towards ensuring energy security, sustainable development and successfully implementing the net-zero commitment by 2050.

With the goal of developing human resources to promote the renewable energy industry in Vietnam, the University of Electricity has signed cooperation agreements on training, research, and technology transfer with many major universities from the US, Japan, Korea, China, etc. International resources in terms of both human resources and equipment are effectively used by the University to further improve the quality of training, providing human resources with adequate professional capacity, serving the needs of national development in the new era.

In the 2024 - 2025 school year, the University of Electricity has coordinated with the GE Vernova Foundation and the NGO Asia Society for Social Imorpvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST) to implement the Wind Power Training Project - RENEW Skills Project.

The RENEW Skills project will be implemented over three years, including teaching activities, providing practical training, and improving skills for university, college and technical students, thereby contributing to meeting the demand for skilled labor in the renewable energy value chain of Vietnam in the present and future. The courses are expected to focus on design, operation, maintenance, grid connection, and occupational safety related to wind power.

At the same time, the project and its partners will establish and provide training facilities on renewable energy for five laboratories, including two Training Centers of Excellence at universities and colleges to serve the courses. It is expected that over the next three years, the project will reach more than 4,000 students and technicians.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Chau – Rector of the University of Electric Power said that the University is honored to cooperate with GE Vernova Foundation and ASSIST Organization in contributing to promoting the process of promoting the equitable energy transition in Vietnam. The RENEW Skills project will bring many opportunities for learners, opening many paths to jobs with good income, especially in the energy industry of Vietnam.

Currently, the School has established the Wind Power Training Center of Excellence and has received 4 sets of practice and experiment equipment from the Project. These practice and experiment equipment will be managed and exploited effectively by the School. The School plans to continuously organize about 1,500 students and transfer wind power technology to universities and colleges in the wind power training system in Vietnam.
