In general, world pepper prices have not fluctuated strongly, maintaining stability in many major producing countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.
Vietnam continues to maintain its "champion" position in the global pepper industry, accounting for 35% of output and 55% of export turnover. In 2024, Vietnam's spice export turnover is estimated to reach more than 1 billion USD, in which pepper plays a key role. This shows the competitiveness and great influence of Vietnamese pepper in the international market.
The US market is a typical example. The US is completely dependent on pepper imports and Vietnam is the main supplier, accounting for 78.6% of the country's total imports in the first 7 months of 2025. This dependence creates sustainable opportunities for Vietnamese businesses, although exports may decrease slightly in some periods, the general trend remains stable.

According to data from IPC, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam showed a slight downward trend in the second week of September, but export prices increased. This shows that there is a gap between domestic purchasing prices and international selling prices, which may be partly due to factors related to logistics costs and export product quality.
However, to maintain growth momentum and position, the Vietnamese pepper industry needs to face many challenges. Major import markets such as the US have increasingly strict requirements on quality, food safety and traceability. Competition from other exporting countries is increasingly fierce.
