World oil prices fell slightly
According to Oilprice on the morning of September 18 (Vietnam time), Brent oil price decreased by 0.52 USD to 68.22 USD/barrel, while WTI decreased by 0.47 USD to 64.05 USD/barrel. The main reason comes from newly released data showing that diesel inventories in the US increased, raising concerns about energy consumption demand in the world's largest economy .
Crude inventories fell last week due to a surge in exports, but distillate inventories, which include diesel, rose, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said, pulling oil prices back from a more than 1% gain in the previous session.
According to Phil Flynn from Price Futures Group, diesel is the “weak link” that is causing instability in the global energy market. In the context of the Fed just cutting interest rates by 0.25 percentage points as predicted, investors are still cautious, waiting for clearer signals from the US economy.
