The "Journalistic Moments" photo contest recognizes the values ​​and dedication of photojournalists.

The “Press Moments” photo contest is a wide playground for journalists and photojournalists to express their perspectives on all aspects of life from politics, economics , culture, society and current issues. Reflecting the vibrant pace of life and unique values ​​of Vietnamese culture, nature, country and people.

The award also aims to recognize and honor the contributions and passion for photography of photojournalists and at the same time contribute to the development of the field of photojournalism in the country. In this 5th season, the Organizing Committee has received hundreds of single and series of photos from authors from all over the country.

Press photography always has a special place in journalism and to capture valuable moments, the photographer not only needs photography techniques but also extensive knowledge, quick judgment, and dedication to the profession to create the best quality works.

I think that the "Press Moments" photo contest always receives the attention of many photojournalists from all over the country. In addition to current events and political and social issues, this year the proportion of photos on the cultural field is quite high...

For journalism in general, problem-solving and commitment are always important. So I hope that in the future, reporters and journalists will pay more attention to this issue.

I hope that the members of the Photo Award Jury will continue to contribute to improving the quality of the participating photos and the judging process. In addition, we also need to strengthen the communication work for the Award, trying to make it known to all photographers, reporters and journalists who are passionate about photography so that they can participate more.

Fairly choose worthy, good and influential works

This is an attractive photo contest with many photojournalists. The contest has a diverse number of photos, the authors have closely followed the topics of political, economic , cultural and social life. The authors have searched for many good, profound topics, many new angles.

The photos sent to the organizing committee basically met the criteria of the contest, the authors captured the current situation, important events of the country's development life, issues occurring in daily life. However, I evaluate, with the content of sports photos, the diversity is not high, still a bit poor, all the authors took and focused on the theme of Seagames.

In general, the number of photos on social current issues is relatively more abundant, many works closely follow the country's major events. I think this is a success for the contest.

For us, the members of the Jury of the Photo Award “Press Moments 2022” always organize the judging and selection of works in a fair and transparent manner, choosing photo collections that fully reflect the issues. I believe that the photo collections selected this time are worthy, good, and have a widespread influence in journalistic activities.

The “Press Moments” photo contest is held with many meanings, because press photos always play an important role, associated with current issues, photographic works are very necessary in modern journalism, the contest will also contribute significantly to improving the quality of photos for editorial offices. I think that the Journalist & Public Opinion newspaper has maintained the contest for many consecutive years, showing that this is one of the press agencies that is very interested in press photos.

The tournament has always had its own brand that attracts many photographers.

I see that this year the works are quite diverse, especially there are many photo series reflecting different issues of social life. The photos in the contest have a lot of journalistic information, the photo series are quite diverse about life issues that the public is interested in. Including storms and floods, natural disasters, the environment, traffic, many photo series depicting portraits of characters.

Compared to previous years, this year's photo collections are not as "strong" as last year's, last year's quality was more consistent. However, this year there are some impressive portrait photo collections, showing research, investment, and following the characters.

There are photo series that the author separates into better single photos, but then combines them into photo series with a structure and narrative that is not coherent. Photos about social life and current events have their own characteristics, but the number of single photos is still small.

However, I think the "Press Moments 2022" Photo Contest is still an interesting playground to attract photographers who are passionate about press photography. The Contest still has its own brand to attract photographers to participate.

Reality shows that to have quality photos, good single photos, to tell a story is still a big challenge for journalists and reporters. The discovery and dedication of photojournalists are not many, but there are some, but not many, still have to rely on organized events, there are few photo collections with discovery nature.

Personally, I like photo collections about people and lives who, despite being sick or disabled, still try to rise up in life. Or photo collections about sharing the difficulties of Vietnamese people with other countries when facing natural disasters and other major changes. This shows the noble international mission, the role and responsibility of our country to the world.

Through the judging process we always try to find the best quality photos, however I think first of all those photos must be highly topical, have discovery, strong journalistic qualities. Bring storytelling and image creation.

In general, the entries have unclear storytelling, the authors try to put too many photos into one set, so the photos are similar and overlap. The order is not excellent. The photos are good but there needs to be a story in them.

The 5th Press Gala and Photo Awards Ceremony of "Press Moments 2022" this year has the theme "Awakening Courage", which is a meaningful message to journalists: The more difficult the situation, the more we need to hone our courage, the more challenging the situation, the more we must strive to maintain our faith.

The 2023 Press Gala with a unique musical space called "Symphony from the Heart" and the highlight of the "Press Moments 2022" Photo Award Ceremony will be a resonance between music and art, between culture and journalism, between enjoyment and appreciation...

42 works displayed in the photo exhibition "Press Moments 2022" organized by the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper within the framework of the Press Gala 2023 program will give the public a panoramic view of social life in 2022 through photos.
