Land clearance for the Southern trunk road project completed in the second quarter

The locality committed to completing site clearance for the Southern Axis Road Construction Investment Project of the old Ha Tay province in the second quarter of 2025.

Regarding the site clearance for the Southern Axis Road Construction Investment Project of the old Ha Tay province, according to Giao thong Newspaper, localities have completed the clearance of 20km. The remaining 3km is mainly in Ung Hoa district, related to 23 resettled households. The district People's Committee has committed to completing it in the second quarter of 2025.

In addition to difficulties related to site clearance, the project is also facing difficulties related to project adjustment approval.

It is known that this is a transitional project from the BT investment form of the People's Committee of the old Ha Tay province. To resolve common problems of transitional projects, the Government will report to the National Assembly for comprehensive solutions.

Recently, Phu Xuyen and Ung Hoa districts have tried to implement the project after a long period of stagnation and both committed to completing it in the first quarter of 2025.

For the cleared land, the investor is continuing construction. Specifically, the construction of the section from Km 18+560 to Km 19+900 is expected to be completed on April 30, 2025; the connecting section from Km 19+900 to Km 41+500 is under construction of the roadbed and service road. At the same time, the investor is deploying bridges on the routes.

According to Giao Thong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Phi Thuong - Director of Hanoi Department of Transport has just signed Document No. 291 dated February 20, requesting Hanoi People's Committee to sign a decision to authorize the signing of the BT Contract appendix of the Investment Project to build the Southern Axis Road of the old Ha Tay province in the form of BT contract.

The Southern Axis has been sluggish in progress for many years.

Specifically, based on the opinions of departments, branches, and the city, the relevant departments have urgently carried out legal procedures. The Hanoi Department of Transport proposed the City People's Committee to consider and issue a decision by the Chairman of the City People's Committee authorizing the Director of the City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board to sign the BT Contract appendix of the Southern Axis Road Construction Investment Project of Ha Tay province in the form of a BT Contract.

Hanoi Department of Transport affirmed that signing in the form of BT contract is necessary to ensure convenience, consistency in management of BT contract implementation and legal basis.

Regarding the project progress, Mr. Thuong said that the City People's Committee has directed the project to be completed in 2025. Regarding the project implementation status, the units have completed construction and put into operation 18.5km, the remaining 23km, of which 14km is in Ung Hoa district and 9km is in Phu Xuyen district.

The Hanoi Southern Axis Road Construction Investment Project (formerly known as the Ha Tay Southern Axis Road Construction Investment Project) is over 41km long, passing through Ha Dong, Thanh Oai, Ung Hoa and Phu Xuyen districts.

The project has a total investment of 6,076 billion VND, implemented in the form of BT (construction - transfer contract), starting construction in 2008.

After 16 years of implementation, the project section through Ha Dong district, Thanh Oai district and Ung Hoa has been basically completed with a cross-section of 40m and 6 lanes.

The remaining section passing through the communes of Hoang Long, Tri Trung, Phu Tuc, Chau Can of Phu Xuyen district is still under slow construction. The section passing through Hong Minh commune has been "stuck in place" for many years due to land clearance problems.
