Hanoi aims to become the logistics center of Indochina

Hanoi develops logistics services in a civilized, modern, high-quality, and efficient manner, based on the application of advanced technology.

On the afternoon of October 6, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen received a delegation of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations led by President Turgut Erkeskin who came to visit before attending the World Congress of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations, held for the first time in Hanoi.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen said that logistics is an important service industry in the overall economic structure, playing a supporting, connecting and promoting socio-economic development, contributing to improving the competitiveness of the economy.

Developing logistics infrastructure is one of the strategic breakthroughs identified by the Government: "Logistics, along with tourism services; information and communication technology; banking and financial services, are the four leading service sectors prioritized for development by 2050."

Identified as the strategic connection center of the entire midland and mountainous region of the North, Hanoi shows its role not only as a transit point for goods but also as an international trade, logistics and service center, connecting sub-regions with the Red River Delta, gateway seaports, especially in major economic corridors such as China, ASEAN and the East-West economic corridor.

According to Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen, in reality, Hanoi has achieved some outstanding results in logistics development, specifically: Forming a relatively complete logistics infrastructure network including dry ports, logistics centers that are connected, closely linked and supportive; warehouses and regional - international connection routes, contributing to enhancing the role of a hub for goods supply.

In addition, Hanoi's logistics services are developing rapidly, many new businesses are investing in modern infrastructure, applying technology and e-commerce, gradually participating in the global value chain.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen said that developing logistics services in a civilized, modern, high-quality, and efficient manner, based on the application of advanced technology, is one of the city's key tasks until 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, developing logistics infrastructure in sync with transport infrastructure and trade and service infrastructure is considered a prerequisite. In addition, international logistics development experiences will certainly contribute significantly to Hanoi shaping the framework for the future logistics development of the capital, with special attention to the orientation of high-tech application and sustainable development.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee hopes that experts from the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations and the Vietnam Logistics Business Association will jointly propose valuable proposals and solutions to join hands in developing Hanoi's logistics system to achieve more important, greener and more sustainable steps, especially in the context of strong technological development.

At the meeting, delegates shared the current situation and potential of transportation and logistics in Vietnam, as well as made proposals for cooperation in this field.

President of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations Turgut Erkeskin highly appreciated the opinions of the delegates at the meeting and expressed his impression of the development plans that Vietnam is aiming for, especially in the field of logistics.

According to Mr. Turgut Erkeskin, through the sharing and exchange of experiences at the working session, the Federation will seriously consider Hanoi's proposal to propose solutions to help Hanoi become a transport connection center in Indochina as well as in the region.

On this occasion, Mr. Turgut Erkeskin expressed his deep gratitude to the Hanoi City Government for their warm welcome to the delegates attending the World Congress of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations. The Federation will learn from the experience of organizing the congress in Hanoi to apply to future events.
