The two banks of the Saigon River in the center of Ho Chi Minh City have additional inland waterway wharves.

TPO - In addition to the existing Bach Dang wharf, the city will develop a traffic organization plan connecting the wharf bridges, construct auxiliary items such as parking lots for two-wheeled vehicles, stops for cars to pick up and drop off passengers, build restrooms, and renovate the existing embankment system.

The Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City said that currently, the People's Committee of District 1 is developing a 1/500 planning of Bach Dang Wharf Park. Accordingly, the city will renovate Bach Dang Wharf Park, build inland waterway wharves along the park to develop water transport and tourism activities in Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition to the existing Bach Dang wharf serving river bus routes, passenger transport and waterway tourism activities, for restaurant and hotel ships, the city will develop a traffic organization plan connecting the wharfs, build auxiliary items such as 2-wheel parking lots, stops for cars to pick up and drop off passengers, build toilets, renovate the existing embankment system and dredge (from Ba Son bridge to Thu Ngu flagpole) on both banks of the Saigon River in District 1 and Thu Duc City.

The wharves of Ba Son bridge (Thu Thiem 2 bridge) will be renovated and built to serve public activities, pick-up and drop-off activities (without anchoring) of water vehicles such as river buses, restaurant boats, hotels... operating passenger and tourism transport on the Saigon river.

The city also calls on businesses to participate in socialization to invest in the construction of additional items such as bridges, toilets, waiting rooms, parking lots, pedestrian shelters on sidewalks, floating buoy systems and passenger guides at the terminals to meet the needs of safe and effective exploitation. Security, order and environmental sanitation at inland waterway terminals will also be strengthened.

Bach Dang wharf area currently has about 15 businesses operating tourism services, from passenger transport, river tours to hotel and restaurant services... This is an important highlight in the development of waterway tourism in Ho Chi Minh City. During the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City River Festival, Bach Dang wharf area was the center of many activities, attracting tens of thousands of tourists to participate in many events.
