On the afternoon of September 3, Dr. Chung Tan Dinh, Director of Soc Trang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, said that the hospital's doctors had just successfully performed surgery on baby PTH (born 2021, residing in Tran De commune, Can Tho city), in a state of septic shock and peritonitis due to perforation of multiple intestinal segments.

Previously, H. was brought to the hospital by his family with severe abdominal pain, bloating, vomiting, and signs of severe infection. Clinical examination showed signs of peritonitis, and paraclinical examination revealed a foreign body in the digestive tract. Continuing to remove adhesions, 5 more intestinal perforations were discovered, 1 hole had a foreign body suspected to be a fish bone, 4 holes had batteries and magnets, and a 2cm segment of intestine was infiltrated and necrotic.
Foreign objects include 4 rusty, deformed button batteries; 4 small cubic magnets; 2 cylindrical magnets, and 1 fish bone foreign object.

The surgical team removed all the objects, resected the necrotic bowel, cleaned and sutured the intestinal perforations, drained the cecum to the skin, washed the abdominal cavity and drained the Douglas. After the surgery, H. received intensive treatment and care, had good post-operative progress, and gradually recovered. He is expected to be discharged in the next few days.
