Harry Maguire made a fatal mistake but then corrected it to help Man Utd draw 1-1 with Athletic Bilbao in a friendly match in Dublin (Ireland).

After winning 3-1 against Lens at Old Trafford on August 5, Man Utd flew to Dublin (Ireland) to play a friendly match with Bilbao last night (August 6).

In this match, coach Ten Hag used a lineup that combined first team players and young talents.

Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Christian Eriksen, Donny van de Beek and Jadon Sancho were all named in the starting line-up by Ten Hag.

Man Utd dominated the game but in the 29th minute, Bilbao unexpectedly got the opening goal. After Maguire's disastrous passing mistake, the Basque team quickly launched an attack. Neco Williams beat goalkeeper Tom Heaton to open the score.

After conceding the goal, the Red Devils tried to push up their attack to find a goal. However, they did not create many breakthroughs. The turning point of the match appeared in the 67th minute. Bilbao defender Aitor Paredes was sent off after receiving a direct red card.

Man Utd put all their efforts into finding a goal. They missed a few good chances. However, in the last minute of injury time, the Red Devils scored an equalizer.

As fate would have it, Maguire went from sinner to hero. The English midfielder jumped high to head the ball for Facundo Pellistri to run down and score into Bilbao's net.

Thus, Man Utd's 2023 summer training camp has ended. After this match, they will return to Manchester to prepare for the Premier League opening match against Wolves at Old Trafford on August 15.
