Students from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi won Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes at the ASEAN+3 Science Talent Camp - themed Sustainable Science, held in Korea.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Le Anh Vinh and Mr. Do Duc Lan - Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences, Le Minh Duc (Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted - Hanoi) won the Gold prize; Hoang Bao Ngoc (Victoria South Saigon Bilingual International School - Ho Chi Minh City) and Le Mai Jenifer (Vinschool Metropolis Secondary School - Hanoi) received the Silver prize.
The Bronze Award went to Phan Tram Anh (Victoria South Saigon Bilingual International School). Tran Nguyen Chau Anh (Victoria South Saigon Bilingual International School) was one of the eight contestants who won the outstanding individual award.

The camp was divided into 30 international teams. Each team consisted of three to four students from different countries and worked together to conduct research on one of four topics: Energy harvesting using renewable energy; CO2 levels and impacts on climate change; Impact of climate change on biodiversity and conservation strategies; Analysis and prediction of changes through exploration of collected data.
After 5 working days, the participating teams presented their projects to a panel of judges who were leading experts from 8 Korean universities, including: Seoul National University of Education, Gyeongin National University of Education, Ehwa Women's University, Gachon University, Korea University, Kyonggi University, Kyungpook University.
The eight winning teams then proceeded to the Finals, with two teams per topic. Each topic had three team project awards (gold, silver, bronze). The result was a total of 12 awards for international projects.

Phan Tram Anh - Victoria Bilingual International School South Saigon shared that the competition is a place for students to promote their strengths, connect and exchange with talented and brave young people in other countries, learn and experience many activities.
"Through this, I can carry out domestic and international scientific research projects using self-collected data, national domestic data related to the topic and lectures and instructions provided throughout the program," the female student added.
Master of Education David Perkin - Principal of Victoria South Saigon School also said that through the ASEAN+3 camp, he can see that students are gradually reaching out to the world, together with international youth, demonstrating their abilities in the field of environmental science in general, environmental threats and protection solutions in particular.
"This is not only important in the context of the ESG (environment, society and corporate governance) trend spreading strongly, no longer limited to the business scope. This is also a motivation for students to identify potential and pursue future careers," he emphasized.

The ASEAN+3 Science Talent Camp took place from December 17 to 23. The program had the participation of 104 students and 25 instructors from 10 Southeast Asian countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand) and Korea, China, and Sweden.
This is a prestigious applied science competition, held periodically under the auspices of the Korean Federation of Science Education Societies for students aged 13 to 15 who are passionate about scientific research, have English skills and work in groups. The program aims to create innovative products through international project activities.
This year's ASEAN+3 has the theme "Sustainable Science and the Role of Scientists", a topic that is of interest to governments and businesses after the COP 28 Conference. At the same time, the camp has gathered students with talent in science and technology to cooperate and demonstrate their skills in a challenging environment; creating opportunities for teachers to attend a series of workshops, in-depth discussions and absorb new ideas through activities carried out by the ASEAN+3 Science Talent Center.
