This morning, May 15, the People's Committee of Hoi An City ( Quang Nam ) officially implemented a plan to strengthen the management of tour guide activities in Hoi An ancient town .

According to records, in addition to the 10 ticket control points to Hoi An ancient town as before, Hoi An City has set up 2 new ticket booths at bus station No. 332 (Ly Thuong Kiet Street) and Thanh Ha bus station (more than 1 km from the center) to facilitate tourists to buy tickets as well as minimize the loss of sightseeing tickets. Each place has staff to sell and guide groups of tourists to get off the bus to buy sightseeing tickets.

Ticket prices are still 80,000 VND for domestic visitors and 120,000 VND for international visitors. Most tour groups comply with buying tickets to enter the Old Quarter. Only at the end of the day will we be able to specifically count the number of tickets sold, from which we can "compare" with the ticket sales situation before applying the new plan. In the short term, the locality has recorded a change in the situation.

To serve tourists, more than 10 electric cars are parked at the station. The fare is set at 10,000 VND/person for distances under 3 km, with a minimum of 5 people per trip. Other passengers traveling from the bus station to places near the old town also pay this fare.

On Phan Chau Trinh Street, more than 5 alleys have been installed with instruction signs by the civil defense force of An Minh Ward with the content: "Visitors please go to the nearest counter for instructions and service to visit the old town".

In addition, each alley and lane has a person on duty to strengthen control and management of entrance tickets in these areas. At the same time, information and instruction boards are arranged in the alleys and lanes so that tourists can clearly understand the local policy on selling entrance tickets.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Lanh, Vice Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee, the plan to strengthen control of tickets to visit the ancient town focuses on tourists traveling in groups. They are identified as groups of tourists belonging to travel companies, with tour guides and flags, often traveling in cars of 15 seats or more.

Authorities are on duty to guide, control and manage entrance tickets in alleys and lanes.

The city will ban cars with more than 15 seats from entering the center. Cars must park at two stations outside, more than 1 km from the center of the old town. When the group gets off, the reception staff will sell tickets there. Then the shuttle bus will take guests to places near the old town, accompanied by a tour guide. They will be taken to the city via the main road, not through alleys or lanes.

"Compared to before, the number of tour guides, inspectors, and ticket managers has nearly doubled. This plan is expected to improve the long-standing shortcomings in ticket control, in order to serve tourists in the most thoughtful way. We have arranged identification sets and necessary information for tourists visiting the old town as well as instructions on what to do, and the tour guides will guide them enthusiastically," said Mr. Nguyen Van Lanh.
