Workshop on preserving and promoting the artistic value of Cham pottery making

On June 16, in Phan Rang - Thap Cham City, the Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) to organize a workshop on preserving and promoting the value of traditional pottery making art of the Cham people. Attending the workshop were comrade Nguyen Long Bien, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of the Department of Cultural Heritage (MCST), departments, branches and over 100 delegates who are domestic and foreign scientists , artisans of Bau Truc pottery village.

In his report to the workshop, the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that UNESCO's recognition of the traditional pottery art of the Cham people as an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection not only honors the value of traditional crafts but also affirms the cultural value of the community, of the joint efforts to preserve and maintain a unique art form in the face of challenges in the trend of integration and market economy . This recognition opens up opportunities for the pottery art of the Cham people to continue to exist and develop.

In his concluding remarks at the workshop, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged and highly appreciated the quality of the delegates' presentations, which contributed significantly to the success of the workshop. He hoped that scientists, managers, businessmen and the artisan community would continue to accompany the Ninh Thuan provincial government in the cause of preserving and promoting the pottery art of the Cham people so that Cham pottery could soon pass the emergency protection stage and move towards stable development. At the same time, effectively implement programs to develop Bau Truc pottery art in a sustainable manner, contributing to increasing the income of pottery villagers.
