More than 10,500 applications for 6,000 teaching positions in Ho Chi Minh City

Although only recruiting about 6,000 teachers, the Ho Chi Minh City education sector received more than 10,500 applications, of which 10,175 qualified for round 2.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has just announced the number of candidates registering to recruit teachers for the 2025-2026 school year, and the form of the second round of recruitment when candidates have passed the first round of application review.

Accordingly, in the first round of teacher recruitment for the 2025-2026 school year, the department received 10,562 registration forms, of which 10,175 were qualified and 387 were ineligible.

Qualified candidates will continue to participate in round 2 with practical exam, organized at 6 exam locations, specifically:

Preschool level: Trung Vuong High School (Sai ​​Gon ward, Ho Chi Minh City).

Primary level (including multi-subject teaching, general education, special education): Hung Vuong High School.

Secondary and high school levels and continuing education in social subjects (history - geography, literature, math): Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School.

Junior high school, high school and continuing education in natural sciences, physical education, national defense: Gia Dinh High School.

Primary and secondary school levels: IT, music - fine arts, technology, economics - law, civic education: Marie Curie High School.

Foreign language: Nguyen Huu Tho High School.

In this round, the council will evaluate the candidates' professional knowledge and skills according to the job position requirements. The test content has been announced since September 11, 2025.

The exam format consists of 4 steps: candidates draw lots to choose a practice topic; prepare presentation content within 15 minutes; submit the preparation form to the examination board; then present knowledge, illustrate teaching skills and answer questions from the board within a maximum of 15 minutes.

Mr. Tong Phuoc Loc - Head of the Department of Personnel Organization, Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City - said: In round 2, candidates must clearly demonstrate the educational content and requirements of the assigned problem; determine the level of requirements of each unit of knowledge to develop teaching plans and design learning activities. At the same time, candidates need to clearly state the qualities and abilities that will be formed for students as well as the methods, techniques, and teaching aids they plan to use.

Previously, from September 12, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training received applications for teacher recruitment for the 2025-2026 school year. This year, the city plans to recruit about 6,000 teachers for preschool, primary, secondary and high schools. Of which, high schools under the department need 671 teachers; Region 1 (former Ho Chi Minh City) 460 teachers; Region 2 (former Binh Duong) 157 teachers; and Region 3 (former Ba Ria - Vung Tau ) 54 teachers.

For public service units under the People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones, the recruitment demand is up to 5,726 teachers. Specifically: preschool level needs 615 teachers, primary school 2,040 and secondary school 3,071. Particularly, Ho Chi Minh City (old) needs 3,089 teachers; Binh Duong (old) 1,990; Ba Ria - Vung Tau (old) 647 teachers.

Some notes for candidates taking round 2

When taking the exam, candidates need to bring:

Original ID card (or photo ID in case of lost ID card).

Two original application forms (with photo, signature and full name).

Pens and other items are allowed in the exam room according to regulations.

Musical instruments, paintings (for candidates taking music and fine arts exams) and textbooks for the 2018 general education program (primary school: grades 3, 4; secondary school: grades 6, 7, 8; high school: grades 10, 11) are on the list approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

Other relevant documents and papers as required.

Not allowed in the exam room:

Cell phones, recorders, cameras, computers.

Transceivers, data backup, information transmission devices.

Papers and documents not related to exam content.

Contest attire:

Women: wear traditional ao dai.

Men: shirt, trousers.

Candidates taking the physical education and national defense and security education exams must wear professional uniforms as prescribed.
