More than 250 elderly people in remote areas received health examinations and consultations.

This morning, December 3, the Association of Medicine and Family Planning in collaboration with Quang Tri Provincial Eye Hospital and Huong Hoa District Medical Center organized a program to examine and provide health care consultation for the elderly (NCT) who are ethnic minorities in Ba Tang commune.

At Ba Tang Commune Health Station, more than 250 elderly people in the commune were examined and advised on eye care and protection by officers, doctors and nurses from the Provincial Eye Hospital, Huong Hoa District Health Center and the Commune Health Station; and were given eye medication.

At the same time, consulting on common diseases of the elderly such as: Diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure...; nutritional counseling and mental care, helping the elderly to detect early, prevent and control their health problems well. The program also gave 10 gifts of warm blankets, clothes... to the elderly in difficult circumstances in Ba Tang commune.

Chairwoman of the Provincial Medical and Family Planning Association Nguyen Thi Thanh said: Realizing that the elderly in ethnic minority areas still have many disadvantages, especially in terms of conditions for medical examination, treatment and health care, every year the association develops a plan, coordinates with relevant units and localities to organize medical examinations and health care consultations for the elderly in mountainous districts of the province. Thereby, helping the elderly to easily access medical services with many activities such as consultation, examination and treatment of diseases.

The Association also coordinates the organization of propaganda activities, reproductive health care, family planning for women of childbearing age; examination, consultation, and dental care for children in ethnic minority areas.
