More than 8.6 billion VND to support children through the "Godmother" Program

(CT) - After nearly 4 years of implementing the "Godmother" Program launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, the Women's Union at all levels of Can Tho City has supported over 250 orphans affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and many other causes.

Officials of the Women's Union of Dai Thanh ward visited and gave gifts and scholarships to orphans before the new school year.

To date, 49 children have reached the age of 18, 6 of whom are receiving free education at the Hope School in Da Nang underFPT Group. There are currently 200 children being sponsored by the Women's Union at all levels in the city, agencies, units, and philanthropists. Of these, 120 orphans receive regular support (VND 500,000 to VND 2 million/month), 72 children receive irregular support, and 8 children have left the locality. The total cost of support is more than VND 8.6 billion, including 816 scholarships, 115 bicycles, 13,288 gifts, 10 charity homes, dream houses, and many livelihood models and necessities.

The "Godmother" program has become a solid foundation, helping orphans overcome difficulties and confidently excel in their studies and life.
