More than 800 people and forces participated in flood and storm prevention and search and rescue drills.

This morning, October 1, the Quang Tri Provincial Steering Committee organized a flood and storm prevention, search and rescue (PCLB-TKCN) drill in 2024 in Cam Hieu commune, Cam Lo district. Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for the drill Ha Sy Dong; Commander of the Provincial Military Command, Colonel Nguyen Huu Dan; over 800 people, functional forces and many vehicles and equipment participated in the drill.

Speaking at the opening of the drill, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong emphasized that Quang Tri has very complex climate and terrain characteristics, and is affected by most types of natural disasters that often occur in Vietnam, but with higher frequency and greater damage.

Therefore, to proactively respond and minimize damage caused by natural disasters, fire prevention and fighting drills are urgent and important tasks for Party committees, authorities at all levels, armed forces and all people in the province in general and Cam Lo district in particular.

This year's Cam Lo District Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue Drill is a key political task of the district, so the components and forces participating in the drill proactively overcome difficulties, unite, coordinate closely, strive to carry out and complete the task excellently. Thereby, contributing to propaganda, dissemination, and extensive education, strongly changing awareness and action in disaster prevention and control - Search and Rescue work; raising sense of responsibility, vigilance, prevention skills, proactive response, timely overcoming of natural disaster consequences and supplementing and perfecting the "4 on-site" motto at the grassroots level.

The 2024 Cam Lo District Search and Rescue Drill is divided into two phases, including: Phase 1 operates the mechanism of the Civil Defense Command Board concurrently the District Search and Rescue Command Board; Phase 2 is a live-fire drill to handle situations.

In particular, the new feature of this exercise is the operation of the online conference mechanism from the district to the communes and towns, so the work of grasping the practical situation of each locality is carried out smoothly. For the field exercise, the hypothetical situation is that storm No. 5 is about to make landfall in Quang Tri province, in which Cam Lo district is expected to be the eye of the storm with strong winds and heavy rain that can cause flooding in the communes.

To practice, the drill's Steering Committee mobilized more than 800 people and officers and soldiers from various forces to participate in three drills, including: Information and propaganda warnings, bracing houses and warehouses, evacuating people to safe places; Responding to collapsed buildings and houses, overcoming consequences; Rescue and relief for deeply flooded residential areas.

Thanks to good preparation, the 2024 Cam Lo District Fire Prevention and Rescue Drill is considered to have successfully fulfilled the set requirements. Through the drill, it aims to raise awareness of the entire political system and the entire population in proactively responding promptly and effectively to natural disaster risks, minimizing human and property damage caused by storms and floods.
