VHO - The special national architectural and artistic relic Duong Long tower in Tay Son district has had its restoration and embellishment investment project approved by Binh Dinh province with a budget of more than 93 billion VND.
Standing Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Thanh has just signed Decision No. 4215/QD-UBND approving the construction investment project and contractor selection plan for the project to restore and embellish the special national architectural and artistic relic of Duong Long Cham tower.
The project's objective is to ensure long-term stability for the tower, avoid the risk of serious deterioration, damage, loss and breakage over time; preserve and promote historical and cultural values, meet the cultural and religious needs of the people, and at the same time associate with tourism development of a special national historical - cultural and artistic relic.
According to the decision, the project will invest in renovating, embellishing, and restoring the south tower and the middle tower (belonging to the Duong Long tower cluster) from a height of 12 m or less. Specifically, it will clean, cut down trees, treat plant components, mold, and lichen on the tower surface; clean the inside of the tower and the tower foundation; reinforce the entrance wall and reinforce the tower walls...
For the south tower, the original stone components will be repositioned for the displaced and broken positions at the tower base, damaged or lost parts will be supplemented with sandstone; the base, walls, and cracked structures on the tower face will be reinforced; the surfaces will be protected, walls and tower arches will be restored; the tower base will be treated, bricks will be laid for restoration; a steel ladder will be installed to create a path up to the tower...
The central tower will have its original rock components repositioned for the displaced and broken positions at the base of the tower; damaged or lost parts will be supplemented with sandstone; the base and wall will be reinforced; the cracked structures on the east, west, south, and north sides will be reinforced...
The project will also conduct archaeology and excavation within an area of 9,150 m2 in the Duong Long tower area. The total investment capital for the project to restore and embellish the special national architectural and artistic relic of Duong Long tower is more than 93.3 billion VND, the implementation period is from 2022 - 2025 (implemented by the central budget and provincial budget).
The architectural and artistic relic of Duong Long Tower (An Chanh Tower, Binh An Tower, Nga Tower) was built around the end of the 12th century and the beginning of the 13th century, now located in Tay Binh and Binh Hoa communes, Tay Son district, Binh Dinh province. Duong Long Tower is a harmonious combination of Champa and Khmer architectural art. Currently, in the relic site, in addition to the three main towers, there is also an additional exhibition house with a total area of about 370m2, a fence system, the main gate opens to the East in the main direction of the three towers, the side gate opens to the North.
With its typical value, the architectural and artistic relic of Duong Long Cham Tower (Tay Son district, Binh Dinh province) was ranked as a special national relic by the Prime Minister (in Decision No. 2367/QD-TTg dated December 23, 2015).
