Therefore, the organization of sports competitions to assess the quality of basic watercraft training for students is of great concern and closely directed by the Naval Academy in general and the Practical Training and Crew Training Center in particular.

Witnessing the teams participating in the sports festival, we saw a very exciting and dramatic atmosphere, the teams showed their bravery, ability, level and high determination to win the highest award. The content of the sports festival includes: Knowledge competition, practical competition (tying knots, rope making, fire fighting) and rowing competition. Each team consists of 15 comrades, in which the ship officer is the team leader in charge of training.

This year's sports festival has been innovated in form towards increasing practical skills, correct and quick operations, and smooth coordination to help students consolidate their knowledge system, personal skills, train their endurance as well as the ability to coordinate and cooperate between members.

Private Dang Minh Dung, a student of class KM36, Naval Academy shared: “The first time we came into contact with ships, everything was very strange to us, from the working environment to the weapons and equipment on the ship. But with the attention, guidance and enthusiastic instruction of the instructors, we quickly caught up and adapted to the learning and working environment on the ship, absorbing a lot of useful knowledge, which is a basic and important foundation for us to continue studying in the following school years.”

According to Private Ho The Lam, BP16 Class Leader, basic watercraft training is the foundation for many practical training contents in the following years, as well as after graduation. Through the sports event, each student accumulates more knowledge, is exposed to the living and working environment on board, and initially trains the ability to withstand wind and waves when at sea.

In the final results of the sports festival, first prize went to the Weapons and Electromechanical team, second prize went to the Maritime team and third prize went to the Radar Information team, Coast Guard, Border Guard.

Talking to us, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duc Hung, Commander of the Practical Training and Crew Training Center, said: “Under the direction of the Party Committee Standing Committee, the Board of Directors of the Academy, and with the attention of departments and branches, the sports festival was organized to evaluate the quality of practical training in general and basic watercraft training in particular for first-year students. Through that, it helps officers and employees of the entire unit as well as students review knowledge and learn experiences, good, creative and effective ways in the process of basic watercraft training for students, contributing to improving the quality of practical training of the unit. In the coming time, we will continue to promote innovation in training methods and assessment methods to achieve the highest results in the unit's practical training tasks."
