Applying high technology to production
In recent years, the application of high technology in agricultural production is gradually becoming a sustainable direction in many localities. In Van La village, Quang Ninh commune, Mr. Le Ngoc Phuc has pioneered the model of growing melons, king melons and baby cucumbers in greenhouses, bringing positive signals.
With an area of nearly 900m², Mr. Phuc has invested nearly 1 billion VND to build a greenhouse system and plant about 1,500 melon plants of various kinds. Thanks to proper care according to technical processes, after more than 1.5 months, the baby cucumbers have now yielded their second harvest; the melons and king melons are entering the harvest season, expected to bring high productivity and economic efficiency.

According to Mr. Le Ngoc Phuc, growing melons in greenhouses brings many outstanding benefits compared to traditional production. The closed environment in greenhouses helps prevent harmful pests and diseases effectively, thereby significantly reducing the use of pesticides. This not only reduces costs but also ensures clean, safe products for consumers. The drip irrigation system helps deliver water to each plant, avoiding waste. Water consumption is significantly reduced, especially important in the context of climate change. Thanks to good control of the environment and nutrition, melons grown in greenhouses have a more delicious taste, are uniform in size and meet food safety and hygiene standards.
This model has initially shown clear effectiveness, not only helping to increase family income, but also opening up a new direction for high-tech agricultural development in the locality. This is also one of the practical ways to implement the policy of shifting crop structure and developing agricultural commodity production in Quang Ninh commune.
Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh Commune, Le Anh Tuan, said that applying high technology to production is the "key" to increasing the value of agricultural products, ensuring sustainable development and improving people's lives. In recent times, the commune has had many policies to encourage and support farmers to change crop structure in an effective direction, apply science and technology to production, and develop concentrated production areas. The whole commune currently has 11 agricultural production models and 46 hectares of aquaculture applying high technology.
Agricultural production along the value chain
Agricultural production according to value chains is a sustainable direction to help improve economic efficiency and income for farmers. In recent times, Quang Ninh commune has implemented many solutions, contributing to improving the efficiency of linkage chains in agricultural production, contributing to increasing income for people.
To form a chain of links, agricultural cooperatives in the commune have actively encouraged member households to accumulate land, apply scientific and technological advances, and produce on a large scale; encourage clean agricultural production and organic agriculture; participate in the implementation of the "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) program... Many cooperatives have strengthened links with businesses in supplying input materials and promoting and consuming products, increasing the value of goods for members.

Through national target programs, the commune has had policies to support cooperatives in building production and product consumption chains; encouraging and creating conditions for businesses to link production and consumption of agricultural products for farmers. In addition, Quang Ninh also actively mobilizes and encourages people to change crop structure to increase the value of agricultural products, increase income, and aim to build a sustainable agricultural development.
According to Secretary of the Quang Ninh Commune Party Committee Pham Trung Dong, in the coming time, the commune will promote the implementation of Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW, dated June 16, 2022 of the 13th Party Central Committee on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas until 2030, with a vision to 2045; promote agricultural modernization, restructuring of crops and livestock; develop agriculture towards commodity agriculture, safe and organic production, applying high technology associated with environmental protection; build brands of typical agricultural products, develop products that meet VietGap and OCOP standards in the area, such as: Quan Hau oysters, Ham Ninh melons, Vinh Tuy rice, etc.
THE TOTAL ANNUAL RICE CULTIVATION AREA IN QUANG NINH COMMUNE IS 2,470 HA, WITH AN ESTIMATED YIELD OF 13,500 TONS. AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION HAS BASICALLY APPLIED MECHANIZATION, FORMING A LINKAGE CHAIN BETWEEN FARMERS-COOPERATIVES-ENTRANCES WITH AN AREA OF 113 HA.
In addition, the commune will proactively cooperate with enterprises, effectively mechanize production stages, reduce input costs, improve production efficiency, reduce the rate of agricultural labor; promote the effectiveness of large-scale field models; direct production on the entire area, actively invest in intensive farming, apply scientific and technical advances in production; consolidate and upgrade the internal traffic and irrigation systems, have solutions to effectively implement the work of converting crop structure; develop high-tech agriculture, organic agriculture associated with building OCOP products, linking production according to the value chain; build a comprehensive and sustainable agricultural development.
