The Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace, entering its 50th year, still maintains its appeal, demonstrating the professionalism and quality of one of the most traditional tournaments in the capital. The organizing committee is actively reviewing, preparing expertise, and strengthening the referee force to ensure accuracy during the competition, improving the quality and position of this long-standing race.
The Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace, first held in 1974, has become a familiar name to many generations of Hanoians. 2025 is the 50th year the race has been held and continues to receive widespread support from the people.
Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Pham Xuan Tai informed that immediately after the city organized the Olympic Running Day for the health of all people, launched the 50th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace 2025 (March 23, 2025), 100% of districts, towns (now communes and wards) established a Steering Committee and developed an organization plan associated with the Olympic Running Day for the health of all people, the movement "all people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho". Units from commune, ward, town levels, agencies and enterprises organized grassroots running competitions associated with local commemorative activities, attracting more than 300,000 participants.
Coach of the Hanoi Athletics Team (Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center) Nguyen Chi Dong shared: “I have participated in the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Running Tournament since 1992. I have participated every year and won prizes. From this race, many talented athletes and young talents of athletics have been discovered and added to the teams. Many athletes of Hanoi have set national records and achieved many achievements at international tournaments.”
Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper Nguyen Minh Duc affirmed: “The Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace has gone beyond the framework of a mass event, becoming a traditional beauty of the Capital. Over the past 50 years, the race has not only contributed to improving the physical strength and stature of Vietnamese people, but also spread the message of peace, affirming the image of a dynamic, friendly and integrated Hanoi”.
The final round of the 50th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace 2025 will take place on the morning of September 28, 2025 at the Ba Kieu Temple Flower Garden and around Hoan Kiem Lake with the participation of more than 3,000 athletes. In order to ensure fairness and accuracy in judging, the Organizing Committee is actively reviewing personnel, increasing referees, and making efforts to improve the quality of the tournament.
Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Management (Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports) Dao Quoc Thang said that the Department has closely coordinated with the Vietnam Athletics Federation, the Athletics Department (Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center) to prepare expertise, train referees, and inspect facilities to serve the tournament management. The work of checking athlete records is also focused on, ensuring compliance with regulations, avoiding cases of sending athletes to the wrong subjects.
Departments, branches and localities continue to coordinate closely to successfully organize the 50th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run Finals - For Peace 2025, ensuring scale, solemnity, accuracy, fairness and spreading the message "For Peace".
