Responding to the reading movement through Book Day and Reading Culture 2024 in Bac Ninh

From April 12-14, Bac Ninh province will organize the third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2024 in the province with the theme "Good books need readers".

Being held for the third consecutive year, Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2024 in Bac Ninh province promises many rich and diverse activities, ensuring practicality and effectiveness to promote the strength and positive response of the community, agencies and social organizations participating in building and developing a reading culture.

The main activities during the 3 days of the third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in Bac Ninh province in 2024 include: the opening ceremony to launch the reading movement; book display and introduction; book donation; free reading service; exchanges with speakers, authors and readers; seminars to introduce authors and works; music programs, art performances, folk games...

Along with the main activities, activities in response to Book and Reading Culture Day will be held from March to the end of April 2024 (focusing on April 8 - May 1, 2024) at school systems, libraries, cultural houses; in districts, towns, cities, units, organizations, and political and social groups.

These include a variety of activities such as: organizing Reading Festivals on each topic at schools; launching reading movements in school libraries; organizing book clubs with extracurricular activities to build a reading culture for students; building and developing a friendly school library model with rich, diverse, attractive organizational forms suitable for each level and field of study; launching and organizing a movement to collect books and support books for schools that lack books or have few books; organizing book displays and exhibitions, introducing book publications; building models of family and clan bookcases, reading rooms of local cultural houses, etc.

The organization of Book and Reading Culture Day is focused on by Bac Ninh province to maintain and organize annually to affirm the position, role and importance of books in improving knowledge, skills, developing thinking, educating and training human personality; encourage and develop the reading movement in the community, create a favorable reading environment; form reading habits in families, schools, agencies, organizations, contributing to building a learning society.

This is also a way to honor readers, creators, publishers, printers, distributors, libraries, book keepers, collectors, promoters and organizations and individuals who have contributed to the development of reading culture in the community. In addition, the event also creates opportunities to enhance the responsibility of all levels, sectors, functional agencies and social organizations in building and developing Vietnamese reading culture in social life.
